Many people-- single moms, low income families use HUD, but they have less grant monies and higher repayment schedules. Try using Rural Housing first. If there is none in your area then check with HUD to see if they have any other programs that you may qualify for.

contact your city housing authority and ask them. Mostly ALL cities have some type of homebuyers plan. This is how I purchased my home last year. I was lucky enough to get into a matching program that matched me dollar for dollar up to $6000 and I followed that up with a long-term rehan house loan that I only have to pay back at $100 monthly. It was truly a sweet deal.
