Probably not. She sure is old tho'! If she starts coughing or wheezing then I would take her to the vet clinic. Also if she doesn't eat and is very thirsty it could be a respiratory thing. Good Luck!

My cat when I first got him had a respiratory infection, he didn't snore. He had upper respiratory infection twice and got medicine for it, he was about 5 weeks old, so just as weak as your 18 year old cat might be. He was fine, got through it ok... it was severe too. He sounds very sniffly now and snores somewhat, but does not have a respiratory infection anymore. The signs that she has one would be like, gunky eyes... her eyes might have crust on them and need wiped a lot because they have gunk in them. She would have a runny nose and sneeze, and maybe weeze. If she doesn't do any of those things, she's probably just snoring because she's old.

If she doesn't sound congested when she is awake it is probably not a respiratory infection. Other signs would include sneezing, runny eyes, and lack of appetite.

Is the snoring new? If so, I recommend going to the vet. My cat had a tumor that dissolved his "nose bone" (I'm sure there's an actual term for that, but don't know it), so breathing became difficult and he sounded worse when he was asleep.

Yes, she might. Please get it checked out. This might be a bit difficult to read . . .

And I'm saying this because "Boyfriend" always snored and probably had an upper respiratory infection from kittenhood. Then, he got some other infection -- conjunctivitis in his eyes or something -- and one morning he suddenly died. He may have only been 10 or 11.

Not, necessarily.

Ever notice how older people snore more than younger people?

Also, is the cat a bit overweight? - pets tend to gain weight as they age, just like people. Every notice how fat people snore a lot?

During the winter months, my dog tends to be a bit heavier. She snores a lot when she is heavier. Also, she tends to snore a lot when she has eaten a lot of food.

My 22 yr old cat snuffles and snores a bit and she does not have an infectious illness.

I think there would be other signs if your cat were sick, like runny nose, not eating well, etc. Those things would indicate a vet should check her over.

Is she a fat cat? as for the age you gave 18 in cat years or human? If she is old it may be age, if she is fat that could be the problem, but still have her checked just in case.

Most of our cats have snored. Don't worry about it.
