I am just going through this myself..except my dog is huge..
chamomile tea is the answer..
Chamomile tea works very well, and is safe for him.
Dump it out of the teabag, and use 1 teaspoon for small breed, up to 1 tablespoon for a large breed. Mix it in a little canned food, such as Mighty Dog, or Cesar's, and give about 30 minutes before he needs to relax. It will keep him happy, but reduce stress.so you can clip nails, clean ears, and other stressful care.. It can be given as needed.
You'll find Chamomile in the tea section at your grocer's,

You can:
a) buy a muzzle and shut his mouth for him
b) wait to you are on the couch watching TV and the dog falls asleep and get one ear at a time
c)take him back to the vet and have them do it
d) attempt to hold the dog down with you and another person, but I do not recommend it.

If you put fear inthe dog and do things to him that he just doesnt like and understand everytime you need to do things of this nature it will get harder to do. Approach him in a calm nice way adn after you put them in his ears give him lovies and or a treat to let him know he did a good job. It reassures him that you arent trying to hurt him

This will take 2 people to do, use a thick towel and wrap the dogs
face and neck area and have the other person hold tightly, exposing one ear. Apply meds. Hope this helps, I have to fdo this when I trim some pugs nails also. It works for me.

oh gosh whatever you do dont give your dog tylenol that will kill it .

I have had to have my husband hold my dogs face really tight and just like they have said put the drops in quick .

If you are by yourself and dont have help you might just have to muzzle the dog and chain him up short leash him where he cant run around and hurry put the drops in . If you do it that way once you are done praise the dog for being good and give him or her a extra treat for being so good.

I always have problems with mine and if hubby isnt around to help me and they have to be put in that is what I have done . the muzzle is only on your pet for a few seconds just long enough to put the drops in. Its either that or take the risk of getting a serious dog bite

i would take him for a very long walk and when i got home and the dog goes to sleep i would put the drops in. if that doesnt work then you are just going to have to get someone to restrain him while you do it. its better that than his ears getting worse and you having to pay a bigger vet bill for flushing the ears. dont let him win , you are the boss

Put a harness on him. Have someone hold him - he isn't going to like it, but obviously IT HURTS which is why you NEED to treat him. Try to be soothing, but direct. Pugs are not really prone to biting, but it hurts him to have you messing with him.

Remember you are doing this so he will get better, but he doesn't understand.

Best of luck!

DO IT FAST!
well, that's not all, try and get a couple of people to help you, get someone to distract him, and someone to hold him. then you go in quick and put the drops in each ear. get in, get out, get done. Don't take time to lollygag. And make sure you and all the people helping you are on the same page. Oh, yeah, and food would probably help to distract him.

You could also give the dog some Benadryl. It will calm him down so that you can get the ears treated.
Here's a site with the dosage by weight

Make him sit then gently sit on your knees (over) behind him. You will be facing the same direction as him, so you will have less of a chance to get bitten. When you sit behind him, you will gently want to apply pressure with your knees on the sides of his body, so he won't get away. It workd for our puppy.. they love to bite, and puppy teeth are sharp. But we didn't get bit once!

my dog would go crazy when we tried to clip his nails. the only way we can do it now is if we knock him out with drugs that the vet gives us. they're expensive but ask your doctor about them anyway.
