Every war in history has had at least one major battle that for the most part decided the outcome of the war. If the greatest military in world history (the US) can't kill maybe 25,000 insurgents/terrorists in Iraq because it can't get them into a major battle how will the war in Iraq ever be won?

The war is over. The insurgency that we're dealing with now is similar to gang activity in South Central Los Angeles.

Iraq is not a war, I don't know how that numskull of a president has it rated. The last declared war the USA was in was WWII.
And to answer your question, Was Korea won ? In my book..NO!
Was Vietnam won ? As a Vietnam vet, Hell no it was not won.
Desert Storm was won because there was a "PLAN" and the troops where built up and no one took anything for granted before the action was started.
This conflict in Iraq will not be won either, I for one see way to many parallels with Iraq and Vietnam. I will say tho at lest the USA learned a lesson with Vietnam and now the troops are fully supported by the public even if they disagree with the conflict.

whilst the Iraqi human beings can police and administration the human beings of their us of a without distant places involvement we could have won. Saddam and his military have been ousted so no longer lots of his troops are left there too combat. A civil conflict is raging there now and we are caught interior the middle. the reason there have been significant battles for the period of Vietnam is with the help of the fact we've been battling the Vietnamese military the entire time and in no way completely occupied the country. We occupied Iraq a protracted time in the past and the government has been overthrown so there is not any authentic rigidity to combat as nicely the terrorist element their and as we've found out, they hardly combat utilising something yet guerrilla methods.

Carpet bombing Iraq will not solve the problem. People don't realize that the enemy is exactly like us. Every enemy has been exactly like us. Perhaps they don't have the same ideals or system of fighting, but they fight for the same reason we do. In order to solve this issue we don't need ignorant American's screaming "carpet bomb them!" without ever taking a moment to research. We have enough politicians doing the for us: on the Left AND the Right side of the political spectrum.

Has anyone bothered to research the CAUSE of terrorism? It isn't that they're angry with our freedoms. It isn't that they hate the white man for his religion. It isn't that the Qu'Ran is full of hatred and violence. There was a time when we called terrorists our allies. During the Cold War we trained Osama Bin Laden and many other terrorists. We gave them money and armed them. We told them to fight off the "Commies." We supported them whole heartedly. Then we began to take control of their fiscal lives. We placed economic sanctions on Middle Eastern countries and increased the ever growing poverty there. During the first Gulf War we destroyed the lives of many innocent civillians. What do you think those civillians felt and did? What would you do?

What would American's do if their country was TERRIBLY poor and being destroyed by a super-power nation like China? What if we lived at the same economic level as Iraqis and China decided to place economic sanctions on us that hurt us more. What if China decided to carpet bomb us on a whim. Would the survivors sit around and say "Well, guess we better do whatever China tells us... Even if it means I have to watch my family and neighbors die day by day." No, Americans would fight. Iraqis don't have the capabilities to fight America in a full frontal battle. They'd get trampled. So they're terrorists. Just like Americans during the Revolutionary War were terrorists to the British.

To END terrorism we need only to LEAVE THE MIDDLE EAST ALONE. Leave them alone! Get out, HELP rebuild WITHOUT the use of huge military task forces. STOP hurting their economy. STOP hurting their people. Carpet Bombing will only breed a new generation of angry survivors who will strap on a bomb belt and blast away.

People need to understand, that it may seem like we are not accomplishing anything by being in Iraq and THAT is because the MEDIA fails to report things such as the Schools and Hospitals that have been opened to be used as SCHOOLS and HOSPITALS. Not Storage for Weapons, ETC. Iraq HAS a Government for the First time in forever. You have to give them TIME to work out the Details. To get Military and Police Force in place. Rome was not built in a day and Neither was the US for that matter. There are always going to be REBELS. The US is not without theirs (Remember the Oklahoma Bombing or just recently the PA Shooting) Look at our Prisons. It takes time. My Husband believes that being in Iraq was the best thing we could be doing for the people of Iraq. We are now taking the role as Police. Trying to keep order. But it is not like the movies or a fairy tale ... a couple of hours and it is done. We have criminals/rebels in the US.. We fight everyday to keep them at bay. We loose Police Officers and Firefighters in our fights here all the time. People need to keep that in mind!!!!!!!

We're not in Iraq to win anything. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it....remember, we armed Hussein to fight Iran in the 80's. We trained Bin Laden to fight the Soviets therein as well. Now, its come to bite us in the Butt. Had Reagan or Bush, Sr. seriously gone after terrorism, the Cole, embassies and 9/11 may have been prevented. Too bad they were busy bilking the country, and double dipping thru their pseudo-War on Drugs, while their spooks trafficked in more cocaine than Pablo Escobar. Never forget, Mena, Ark. was a hub..with that state's then governor Clinton a major player....I like to think of it as the vicious circle.

The "War in Iraq" isn't a war. It was never declared. To wage a successful war you need the support of your citizens, military and government. We have none of those. Our military presence in Iraq serves only as a terrorist training camp. But, hey, it's the best.

We've already won the war -- the Iraqi army was pretty much stomped. We now need to win the peace, which means putting the country back together with everyone getting along. Imagine -- Sunni and Shiite and the other Muslim branch whos name I keep forgettng working together with Kurds and other ethnic groups to build a nation.

YEAH, RIGHT!

First we have to get into the right country first before we can win..and before we can do that we need to get rid of the Armchair whiners that try to run a war from a recliner.
