What is with all these monetary rewards for proof of God or proof of Evolution?

So we all know about the proof of Evolution thing where the guy dr dino offers 250,000 for anyone who can prove to his satisfaction the big bang and evolution, and apparently theres some counter offer for money for prove of God,

I was wondering, does anyone feel as I do, that these kinds of things, monetary rewards for proving a world view, are silly and trivialize what should be a collective planetary discourse?

Is there a God? This question is a great question. Perhaps the greatest ever, ever asked. How did the human being come about, God or some other process, the current scientific theory is that of Evolution. Perhaps an equally great question.

Shouldn't we as a human race collectively discuss our views, discuss our reasons, pushing one another to discover that which is the Truth of Reality, no matter the end result?

Shouldn't this be done peacefully and with all intent of soul searching and reasonable end result,

Am I crazy for thinking these things?

Nope. Quite sane, my friend.

I have had good conversations with evolutionists who were nice enough to provide more of the scientific reasons as to why evolution is true theory to them. For me, math has to be the deciding factor. Mathematical probability, as given by Hoyle, states that the chances of life to spontaneously evolve out of a primordial soup is one in 10 to the 40,000 power. Now scientists agree that anything beyond one in 10 to the 50th power is consider an impossibility. So imagine adding 39,950 more zeros onto those odds!

Can we use math in the proof of God? Actually, yes we can. God has provided the proof through prophecy. No other "holy book" can provide prophecy beside the Bible. This traces its origin to be outside of our physical time domain. It reads in Isaiah 41:22-23,

"Let them bring forth and show us what will happen; let them show the former things, what they were, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare to us things to come. Show the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that you are gods; yes, do good or do evil, that we may be dismayed and see it together."

So, let's look at this mathematically. Dr. Peter Stoner, in an analysis that was carefully reviewed and pronounced to be sound by the American Scientific Affiliation, states that the probability of just eight prophecies being fulfilled in just one person is 1 in 10 to the 17th power. So, mathematically, the odds are in overwhelming favor of the Creator God written in the pages of the Bible rather than in the overwhelming odds against evolution.

That is my stance. And it is freely given, no need to send any silly rewards. ;)

Nice post. I agree with you for the most part. The one thing I would caution about though, is pushing everyone to accept one viewpoint or another, based on a global consensus. This is antithetical to the core values that many hold dear, namely the freeom to believe and speak as they want to. The search for truth is important and should be done peacefully, I agree. But the peaceful pursuit of it must also include the peaceful agreement to disagree when it becomes apparent that neither argument can ever be conclusively proven.

No. I know I often have such lofty ideas too.

But, could you imagine if everyone was nice and polite. And, what would happen if everyone was caring. To make it worse imagine that we all had the same beliefs, morals, and ideas. It would be so boring the human race would fail to continue. We'd be extinct just like the dinos.

As far a civilized debate - I think that would nice. I alway love having a good debate. Perhaps, if you gave everyone a free beer they'd be nicer, lol.

I agree with you totally.

I think the reward for discovering a counter argument to someone elses proposal is a form of self serving justification to not believe.

For example, if I post a million dollar reward for someone to disprove leprechauns, and of course no one succeeds in disproving their existence, I could (assuming I had no form of self-honesty) use that as justification to continue believing.

Dr. Dino is doing the same thing, but he does it by creating an overly complex and unnecessary set of requirements to prove a rather simple concept.

The worst part is that they are both completely impossible to attain because of simple logic and reason. The Hovind one is particularly disturbing because he uses it as a means to continue his spread of misinformation about evolution. The other one is more of a counter to his idiotic scam, but still just as impossible to attain. Hovind and his kind are a large reason as to why the US in general has fallen behind the rest of the world in intelligence. Its almost as though we our reverting back to the dark ages.

Edit: The answer two above mine proves my point exactly. His analysis of the universe is completely and provably wrong. Original element (God) forming air, water, etc?!??!! What the hell is wrong with these people?

your suggestion requires reason and respect by all the various parties for all the various parties.

Division is much more exciting; ut gets the blood pumping ot rally one's side against the "enemy" side.

Your model also calls for clear definitions for Truth and Reality; since imperical, scientific Truth will never coincide with dogmatic "truth," we are at a stalemate.

In the beginning, at the time of creation of nature only one element was present in the vast universe of infinity, which is called the prime element or the God. In course of time it condensed into an energy element and then from energy it transformed into a solid element, which again got divided into seven re-transformed parts in course of time. These divided parts are earth (surface), water, air, fire (energy) consciousness, sky, and arrogance. In the seven elements were carried the truth (Positive), essence (Neutral) and sin (Negative) is equal proportion like wise in the whole universe there is a creation on 21 type of matters. These 21 maters constitute the whole universe. And divide themselves in to count less numbers of atoms. During the developing period of universe, in a desire to develop themselves the atoms carried on improving themselves spontaneously and gradually up to conscious soul, generally. Some highly developed carried high consciousness and divine power in them. The atoms of the universe are trying to go further ahead in the way of superiority.

If we take the milk as prime element, then curd, cheese, butter, buttermilk, butter oil, and creams etc. are the byproducts of it. Bacteria is cultured in the curd. Cheese is not active but the bacteria’s are active like wise, the matter, the living being and the ‘spheres’ are developed from the prime elements. The cause of the matter is energy and the energy is the condensed form of prime element (the essential elements of the universe).

The soul enters into the man though breathing to become the part of his cell, again to form into the sperm, and after that it take the form of a foetus in mother’s womb. Every atoms are well equipped to form alive. Wherever co-incidence occurs they become activated. And congruous to the developed state of own, with the help of other germs and atoms they take the form of a full bodied species.

Every atom has a free existence which is made of a part from the supreme element. Whatever is there in this universe, is existing from the beginning, will remain there. Only the shape and the size of it changes. Nothing reduces or increases.

The day atoms go back to there original position they will achieve salvation. Conversion of soul into super element is salvation.

This undivided infinite existing one is God. The soul, germs and the atoms are tiny parts of it. Like a stone and the molecules in it. Countless numbers of molecule combine together to form a stone. Likewise the tenure and the dominance of God are spread in molecules to molecules. This is a fact. An eternal truth.

Every molecules of the nature and every creature are part of the creation only. Different shapes created in them is the combined representation of the germs and atoms, which depend on each other to bring these shapes. They are present in the clay, in the stone and in the total vegetation. They are ‘life elements’. The scientific research has proved that the plants also feel the pain when being cut with a weapon and they also can make out what the person in front thinks about them – ‘Today they are eating, tomorrow they will be eaten or already been eaten.’

Lice in the hair, mosquitoes in the drain and the insects in the dark corners, where do they come from ? Have you ever asked the black ants on the age of wash basin, where they come from ? You wait till they (ants) escape from the basin area, so that you can wash you face and no ant should get washed away. But it doesn’t work, they (ants) don’t bother and get washed away with the flow of water. Other creatures like spider, rats, if you don’t kill them they will spoil your food and your sleep. The mosquitoes, if you don’t use mosquito “repeler”, they will suck up your blood. You have them starved to death, by using a mosquito net. How content you feel in that ? How do the ants know where the sugar is ? Those ants with wings, how you burn them to char?
Why do you destroy the honey combs and the wasp den ? The reason is, for existence of one species, an another is sacrificed. You connive for it, but your virtuous mind gets entangled with the ‘net o virtues’ seeing those insects dying. By slaying a lamb, 10 people fill there stomach, but with the killing of 50 mosquitoes a person gets proper sleep.
