Do you:

1.Answer as quickly as you can, in order for your response to be on top?

2.Take the time to think about your answer, do the neccesarry research, formulated rought drafts, etc..

3. Or just write the first thing that pops into your head?

4. Or just give a quick one-liner in order to rack up the points?

I actually try and think about a good response for the question that I am answering unless it is like a poll or something, where thorough thoughts aren't required.

Most of the questions are legitimate and someone really needs the info so i try and help as much as i can.

I could care less if i got the first response, or if i get picked as the best answer because my real goal on here is to just offer advice, nothing more. I dont win anything by being the top scorer on YA, so why try that hard? I just like to answer the questions.

Now I will admit, some questions that i thought were dumb, but still funny enough to answer i gave answers like "Are you serious?? That is too funny" and "Yeah, about that answer... ummm you need to quit". But that was only a few!

Great question!

A combination of 2 and 4.

I like to think about a question for a minute or so, before I decide whether to answer. So, that leaves out 1 and 3.

Some questions are requests for information. If I answer one of those, it's case 2. And, I only answer these if I think I have something to contribute.

Other questions are meant to be funny, to offend, etc. If I answer one of those, it's... well it's case 4.

Sometimes it's hard to tell whether a question is a request for information. For example, when people ask embarassing questions, they often ask in a crude way-- perhaps to pretend they're not really asking...

I think I'm somewhere between # 2 & #3. I don't just write the first thing that pops into my head, but I don't do a lot of research either. Most of my answers spring from my personal experience so I can pull together pretty quickly.

I select questions based on my expertise. That way I actually know what it is I'm talking about to begin with. Beyond that, I'll do additional research if the question warrants (ie, the question is well thought out or it's a subject I know a great deal about, but I'm a little grey on a certain specific aspect).

Other times the question is hillarious and I just have a good comeback.

Depends on the question. If the question is serious, I give a serious answer. If people are just being goofy, I try to give a dorky answer. I dont worry about the points, I mean what are they REALLY for anyway.......I screensaver, psh. I just like reading what other people wanna know. But, I am NOT gonna take the time to look up references like some folks.

I really do think about most of my answers, i try to answer questions that interest me, and that i believe i have some knowledge of.
sometimes a really bizarre question pops up and i do answer w/ a smarta$$ comment, ahhh just cant help myself..........=}
I usually never answer a question that i have to look up, whatsthe sense, the asker can do that
i also hate copy and paste answers......grrrr
MY philosophy is Know a little bit about a lot of things and not everything about one thing.

Depends on the question.

if I know the answer, and the question was worded in a way that I can understand I'll answer it.

If it is a stupid question, or I don't understand what's being asked, I'll come up with a smart *** reply and rack up the points.

Usually 3, sometimes 2, but it's cool when 1 happens.
