First and foremost, I am a Jehovah's Witness. The article from the Awake! magazine was published by us. But, I wasn't alive when that particular article was printed....so I'm gonna do the best I can at explaining it. Basically all it's saying is... some other magazine (not one of JW's) article said there were 20,000 errors in the KJV of the Bible. Then, with a little more in-depth research, Bible scholors stated there could be as many as 50,000 errors. But, most of these "so-called errors" have been corrected by modern translators. What remains of the discrepancies, are very minor and do not substantially change the context of the Bible as a whole. Then, it goes into detail about certain questions that were raised and shows how the New World Translation has corrected such errors by going to some of the original manuscripts from back in the fourth century. Showing that, extensive research was involved in the translating of the NWT. Every Bible is bound to have a few errors here and there simply because of the age of the Book...and because nobody's perfect. But overall, the Bible itself is proven true and accurate.

On another note...I don't appreciate the comments made by "Sword / Lord" and "wisdom." First, we are not a cult.

Dictionary.com's definition of cult is:
"1. a particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.
3. the object of such devotion.
4. a group or sect bound together by veneration of the same thing, person, ideal, etc.
5. Sociology. a group having a sacred ideology and a set of rites centering around their sacred symbols.
6. a religion or sect considered to be false, unorthodox, or extremist, with members often living outside of conventional society under the direction of a charismatic leader.

The standard for what is orthodox, however, should be God’s Word, and Jehovah’s Witnesses strictly adhere to the Bible. Their worship is a way of life, not a ritual devotion. They neither follow a human nor isolate themselves from the rest of society. They live and work in the midst of other people. Clearly were are not a cult, and it would be *MUCH* appreciated if people would realize this fact.

Secondly, we DO NOT believe that Satan is Jesus' brother. I don't know where you came up with that. Obviously, it wasn't from an accurate source. People tend to believe what they hear from other people or from what they read about us in various books or on the internet. But, nobody ever gets the facts straight. Jehovah's Witnesses are a worldwide Christian society of people who actively bear witness regarding Jehovah God and his purposes affecting mankind. We base our beliefs solely on the Bible. I have provided a link to the official website of Jehovah's Witnesses. Please scroll to the bottom of the page and read a few of our basic beliefs. Thanks.

When intelligent people first realize the fallibility of the bible, it is akin to a young child discovering his parents putting "Santa's" presents under the tree.

Of course there are errors in the bible, it is a book of fiction first written by extremely superstitious people thousands of years ago.

I have been reading the bible for 40 years and I have not found any errors.... sometimes people claim there is an error , when they, themselves do not understand something. It is their lack of comprehension, not the text they are viewing, that is the problem. Much of the bible is written so that someone really has to be walking in the spirit of god, not the flesh of man, to interpret it correctly.

If you think that Jehovah Witnesses are followers of Christ you really do need to go back to the drawing board.

They believe that Satan is Jesus' Brother among other stupid things like that. They are clueless when it comes to the Bible.

This would be like learning Geometry from a child in 1st grade.

This was written by the JW's and they are a cult and not considered Christians..
The current version that the JW's use today (New World Translation) is a reverse translation that is not recognised by any biblical scholars other than their own.
REVERSE TRANSLATION:
The found out what they wanted the bible to say and they translated the english into greek or hebrew for their own convenience.

many people that believe in the divinity of christ, in various ways, also believe (who really KNOWS anything, eh?) that mistakes were made in, at very least, the translation and dissemination of the bible - it would, literally, be a miracle, if they hadn't. even with spellcheck, professional proof readers, editors, and printing presses, errors get into books. compound that with single scribes, translators, and ADAPTORS, over the centuries. it just stands to reason that errors'll creep in there.

i made a typo just writing this answer (though, upon proofing it, i caught it... hoping there aren't others)!

You guys really don't believe this? Incredible! Every old manuscript that has been translated has errors, and the more translations the more errors. It a proven fact.
Its just like....evolution in DNA.

The Bible is 100% accurate. If they don't believe it is true, so be it. Blessed are those who believe by heart :)
