He's older by 9 years and everything was going pretty good but now im not really feeling it. I dont want to hurt his feelings but i want to break up with him. I know when you break up with someone itll hurt their feelings either way. Anyone have any helpful ways to break up. I dont want to go over there and do it face to face because he lives in a different city and he's told me hes had assult charges. Hes had a really bad past with the law and im not sure thats something i want to be tied up with.

Hmm...how to break up with a guy who's got a violent history? Definitely not in person...great instinct! Do it over the phone. Make up your mind ahead of time that nothing he says will change your mind. Here's an idea:
"I just don't think there's a future here. I'm sorry if this hurts your feelings, but I'm sure you'd rather know now so you can move on."
Trust me...he'll move on...

I agree with your thinking. Firstly 9 years is a substantial difference.I would not like that if I were in your place.He has no right to involve you with his past bundle of problems.I suggest you write a polite, short letter saying you want to end the relation and nothing beyond-no reasons. You give him an option to meet you at convenient place and time and explain to him verbally in person.

Whatever you do...you have to be honest.
You have to tell the guy that you are not as happy as you were when this started.
Maybe it is because he lives in another city. That can take a toll on a relationship.
Just talk to him and see what happens.

You should sent him a singing telegram, and make sure he is home when it gets there, nothing makes breaking up easier than a singing telegram. This way he will be up the singer and not you

I totally agree with you. you don't need to be with someone that has a criminal record. Just tell him that it has nothing to do with him but you need your space because you have stuff going on in your life and leave it at that.

I think you should meet him, but prefer being in a public place with a friend of yours nearby. nobody likes ending a relationship or whatever via phone...

Tough one... I suggest doing it by phone. Be nice but firm... tell him you just don't have the same feelings for him, and that it's not him, it's you.
