My Kenwood KDC 519 faceplate just quit working(no display on it at all)
The stereo will play and works fine, but no faceplate display.
What is wrong? and can it be fixed?

it's the tiny ribbon cable that just cracked and failed .it can be repaired but it's a pain in the *** .if you look closely at the bottom of the face (with it flipped close of course), you can see the ribbon that connects the face electronically to the inside of the stereo. I happened to notice it only after i removed my stereo. Basically the ribbon bending back and forth (the face plate rotating open and closed)constantly caused it to crack on either side of it eventually breaking the connections one at a time. You'll need a replacement cable and do some soldering .That's why i mean it's a pain to fix .Either check Ebay for a replacement faceplate or change radio alltogether .

Depends on your car I have a 94 ford explorer and never figured it had a factory amp I hooked everything up and no sound 0.0 searched google I found that I "need" to bypass the amp but I took a second look and found the right wires and hooked it up and then I hear the sound of angles I have never heard such great sound from such an older car with factory speakers on mine I connected the stereo to my harness and plugged the harness to my factory harness the stereo had a plain blue wire and the harness had a blue and white wire look at the instruction they should say amp or remote amp if so put them together
