Yes, you can have a bridal shower. I wouldn't recommend after the reception though. Because you and your guests have had a long day. Even though you are getting married at the court house the reception is a long event and it wears you out. I would choose another day to have the shower. Why not the weekend before the wedding? I think it would be best for you, your groom, and your guests. You would have a bigger attendance this way as well. But just because your going to the court house doesn't mean you don't deserve a shower!!! Congratulations and good luck with everything!

Bridal showers need to be before the wedding. Also, you cannot invite guests to the shower if they will not be invited to the wedding. Having a shower after the wedding and having guests that were not invited to the wedding would not be appropriate. A shower is an occassion for people to bring gifts...it does not involve them in your wedding.
There are many ways to have a low-cost wedding where you can have a reception, though. Perhaps someone's backyard, and serve only champagne and cake. That way, you will still have people involved with your wedding and celebration, and you won't be stepping on any toes.

you most likely will not be able to have a reception at the court house, that is a place to conduct business, not to have a party.......the bridal shower is to be held before the wedding, like a few weeks or even a month before the wedding, not after and not after the reception. have the reception at a park shelter house that should not cost you much if anything.....

No, a bridal shower takes place weeks or months before a wedding.
Your question really doesn't make sense..... If you knew you were getting married, that probably wasn't the time to buy a new car, now was it?

I don't think it would be appropriate because people attending the reception will generally give you a gift anyways, which would make the bridal shower pointless. How about the day before, kind of casual at your house? That might make it easier out-of-town guests (if you have any) will be in town. Regardless, people will give you gifts at your wedding.

Have the shower before the wedding. Rethink the new car. I would meet with a financial planner to discuss your options. You don't want to start out married life with extra pressures, if possible. Best wishes!

I think it is okay to have a shower, but I would do it before the wedding, not after at the courthouse. Invite "the girls" to your home and have a mini shower if you are strapped. Cookies, kool-aid, and maybe some finger sandwiches should do it. Make your own invitations! Turn it into a fun project for you and your friends and family.

The court house is not really an appropriate place for a reception. If they'd even let you use a room, you'd have to pay.
Just find a restaurant nearby that everyone can go to. Make it a cash bar and see if they can do some reasonably priced trays of food to pass.

No it's probably not a good idea. Have a small get together at relatives or friends house a bridal shower/reception in one.

It's perfectly acceptable to have a reception after your wedding, but not at the courthouse.
