To learn responsibilty.

To learn how to do them for when they live on their own.

To help parents around the house, since the parents work to pay for the house, food, clothes, toys, etc.

Number of reasons. Learn how to make your own way in this world, sunce nobody owes you a living. Roof over your head, clothes & food come with a price tag. Chores help earn them. Also instilling the confidence that you are capable of doing things for yourself. Neat lessons many never learn.
Be thankful for the opportunities.

Do you really have to do ALL the chores? ; )

To answer, it teaches you responsibility, how to run your own home later on, part of being a member of a family...
It is a lot of work for just one person to do it all themselves. (Check out the mom's who are "going on strike" because THEY are doing all the housework, etc themselves.)

Forgot to say: I do sympathize. I recall feeling the same way myself. I have also had two of my three children tell me they believed they are doing all the work around here.
My solution was to do their chores for one day and to leave them to try to figure out how they could do mine. ; ) We were all happy to swap back to our regular jobs. (I hate to take out the trash and they were both totally flummoxed on the dinner, budget, laundry, etc and constant telephone front. Suddenly loading and unloading the diswasher and having to vaccuum didn't look too bad. I made sure they understand that I really do appreciate what they do.)

I felt like that when i was a kid. like my mom only had us to do the dishes and run to the store to get her coffee cream. so i made sure when i had a child that she had specific chores that she was responsible for and i have one's i do. sometimes we rotate, but in general i try to be fair while teaching her responsibility and all that. i make sure never to take advantage of the fact that she's a kid and has to do whatever i say. it's worked out great.

Because the parents have to go to work every day. When you are older, you wil undertsand more. Your parents have to get up and go to work all day to be able to pay for the house you live in, the food you eat, the clothes you wear, etc. Isn't it fair, then, that you help them out with the house, seeing as how they pay for it, and you don't?

What if me and you shared an apartment, and you payed all of the bills; wouldn't you, then, expect me to keep the apartment clean since you work every day to pay for it?

What if we shared a car that you paid for all by yourself; wouldn't it be my responsibility to buy the gas for it, or to keep it clean, or at least SOMETHING if we are both going to use it, but you're the only one that pays for it?

Hope this helps :)

Because the parents do all the work that supports the children; just because they relax at home doesn't mean they've been not busy all day.

Everyone has their part to do in a successful family; if you don't like it, move out.
