Some of them have sodium bicarbonate in them, or potassium bitartrate. These chemicals help the batter to rise when being baked. The carbon dioxide does not all gas off and we may have some helping to add to the gas that is expelled when we burp.
That's my take on the matter.

My room mate used to work for restaurant supply. They make all kind of chemicals to extend the "life" of the oil you fry donuts in. Totally gross. There is one to remove the rancid smell.
Make sure you know when the place changes their oil and only buy then. It could be the oil additives that are giving you problems.

It could be a combination of a few things although I havent really noticed this.
The yeast in it, just like beer.
Also some types are airy inside, so you're eating air that has to come out.

Could be the yeast they use to make the donuts. Same as with beer.
