I have a white cat and his hair goes out and my entire house is full of it and my family is starting to dislike my dear pet.

First, I would take the cat to the vet to make sure the shedding is not a sign of illness. Many cats shed excessively because of poor nutrition. My cats shed very little, because they are on the highest quality food possible. All of my animals eat The Honest Kitchen dehydrated raw base. I add extra protein in the form of raw ground beef/turkey/chicken and raw chicken backs/legs/wings/necks and gizzards!
For regular maintenace, brush your cat at least once daily with a shedding brush (aka a "slicker" brush) and go over him once a week with a shedding rake. Make sure you feed him the best quality food you can afford. Good luck!

Slightly damp rubber gloves or a rubber cat brush is really good for getting fur off carpets and upholstery. However grooming your cat regularly is quicker and much nicer for you and your cat than cleaning up the house.

I agree with Sarah. Excessive shedding can be an indication that all is not well INSIDE the cat.

I would look for higher quality foods that have human-grade protein sources instead of by-product meal. Corn is also not good nutrition for a cat. The better quality foods are made with brown rice.

Before I started doing a raw diet my son's cat had very dry, wire-brush sort of hair that you could comb out by the fistful. Within a month to six weeks his coat became soft, moist and silky. So quality food can make a difference.

Its the moult season at the moment so all cats are shedding more hair than usual. If you brush your cat regularly and vacuum the hairs every day you should keep on top of it! And then in a few weeks it will go back to the normal amount of shed hair!!

Hi Diana
Get him a got hair brush and brush every day are even just when hes sitting with you. Tell your family that its not fair to dislike your cat as its not his fault. Good for you for wanting to do something about it

Hoover up the house, then get some sellotape and use that on clothes and other stuff that has cat hairs on them. Also, if you damp your hands with water and stroke the cat with them, hopefully lots of loose hair will come on your hands. don't worry, the cat wont mind it, just be gentle. try it.

arwww my daughter had the same problem with her white cat, she had to brush the cat daily, that did help to keep the house clean, also she has one those sticky rollers that pick up all the hair from the furniture and your clothes. if you love your cat, then why worry about all those others who complain, after all its you who clears up the hairs.and its well worth it for the love your pet will give back to you.

to help the cat put a dot of olive oil on its front paws
the cat licks this into their fur making it sleeker and fur balls
come up easier for it.
the cats coat will look amazing.....keep brushing it
another suggestion...white carpet/white suite you get the picture
