can a sponsor agree to pay directly to my college?

There are plenty of scholarships for people who need financial aid. However, it does require some effort on your part. A person could "sponsor" you and pay your college... but I don't think somebody is just going to come out of nowhere and pay for all of your tuition and expenses, you need to first help yourself. Get good grades and apply for a scholarships and grants.

A sponsor could do that, but you have to search for them. A better idea is to fill out a FAFSA (www.fafsa.ed.gov). You have to do this every year (do it now, but ideally you want to do it in January or February). Go to the Financial Aid department at you school, they will have alot of information on Financial Aid.

Online there are tons of resources for scholarships; some are for poor people, for certain majors, certain heights, lots of stuff (www.scholarships.com, www.nextstudent.com, www.fastweb.com)

Good luck to you, believe me, if you need money, there is money out there. I have been through the system and have worked for it too.

If you're going to do a degree then my advise is to get a part time job for the first two years of your three year degree. See what extra help is available but ultimately working will be the way to fund yourself. There are some scholarships available for certain areas of study but that's dependent on on what you're doing. You will have just be poorish until you leave university - sorry.

Get yourself a job in a pub

apply for a grant from your local council

lay off cigarettes and alcohol

Get your degree, earn mega bucks.

If you wait around for someone to give you a handout, you will be retired before you get your degree.
