I don't understand. I for one am a cat person. I just don't really care for dogs at all. cats are soooo much more tolerable in my opinion than a dog is. they're prettier, quieter, less messy, know how to occupy themselves w/out being destructive, sleep more, and some are just plain lovable, you don't have to give cats a bath as much, they don't need walks, etc. whoever says cats smell are completly stupid!! yeah, their litterbox smells (if you don't clean it out daily)!! they say that cats are no fun. I say that if you've ever met my cats you would totally change your mind. mine are so sociable and love the company of people and my boy is soooooooo playful all the time. I luvvvvvv them both!! I believe that all these people who claim reasons why they don't like cats have never really owned a cat so therefore they can't judge. I used to be one of those people, I never cared for cats until I found my female. I didn't know how great cats could be. she changed my mind.

Yes, I've had a dog before and he was just a real pain. I mean I loved him but all he did was bark, chew on things, get out, and dig my whole backyard up!!!

I am the rare breed that is both a cat person AND a dog person. I love the individual traits that make each so special. I love dogs for their devotion and trainability, drive to protect their family and property, and their pack mentality. However, I love cats for all the opposite reasons. Cats are intelligent, mischevious animals that really make YOU work for THEIR affection. My male cat, Maximus, actually plays fetch. He picks up a baby sock or one of his mouse toys, and will bring it to you in his mouth, drops it at your feet, and meows at you until you throw it for him. He will chase after it like a dog, pick it up in his mouth, and repeat the whole process over again. They are just as trainable as dogs, and all 5 of my animals sit and stay until I put their food bowls down. I own 3 cats and 2 dogs, everyone gets along fine, and I wouldn't change a thing about it! As for level of care, all of mine are dead-set even.
People that are just "dog" people just don't know the joy of cats, and people that are just "cat" people don't know the joy of dogs!

I personally am more of a og person. The reason why I prefer dogs over cats is because dogs are more protective. If someone (a burgler for example) would break into my house, my dogs would start barking and mgiht attack him. A cat might meow, but it would be harder to here. Also, someone could easily take out a cat because they are smaller. Also, I wouldnt want to have to clean my ctas litter box every day. With my dogs, we have a fenced in yard where they can do their job and run around and play. Only aboput every week does their poo have to be cleaned up.
This is only my opinion, and I respect yours. Everyone has different types of animas that they like

If you like to leave and be outside of your house a lot, dogs are the way to go. I have a cat right now because I live in an apartment. But if you have a big yard or some land, dogs are great. They follow you everywhere, protect you and love you. You can get excercise by jogging with them. They really are the best. Cats are great for when your hanging out in your house though.

I love all kinds of animals but I'm more towards dogs then cats. I love cats as well but I guess moreso for dogs for various reasons. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. I like dogs because they are easy to train and so responsive to commands. You can take them on a walk as well as go jogging with them. They love to wrestle and more sociable than cats. It depends on the cat of course though. Dogs make great companions and some make great watch dogs.

Okay, first of all i don't appreciate you calling us who prefer dogs "dumb", or "morons", and secondly, just like you prefer cats, some people prefer dogs. like me. I don't care too much for cats, not only because i am allergic to them, but also because i don't care to much about how they look at me. That just creeps me out! People are different, and people prefer different things. some people enjoy the resposibility with caring for a dog ( I do, i have four!), and some people rather have cats for whatever reason. That's not really a question that one person can answer, you would have to ask each individually.

I have 4 cats and two dogs and I love all of them the same. Although it is nice that my cats can just go in and out of the cat door they are very independent.

I have 2 cats and 1 of them is my own. She is the only cat in the world I like. Dogs are much more.... i dont know.... yourcan do things with them. You cant jog down the road with your cat. My cat is like a dog, thats probably why I love her so much. She rides in the car with me every where I go and begs like a dog.

I was attacked by a dog when I was 10. I am terrified of dogs. But, I do like pets. So I'm a cat person.

You also don't have to take a cat outside in the rain when it wants to go to the bathroom.

I believe the main difference is:

Cats are very independant creatures. They will demand attention when they want it, but they don't have to be taken for walks and that sort of thing.

Dogs will pretty much do whatever you want them to do. If you want to cuddle with them, you just have to call them over. Dogs seem to "need" their humans more than cats.

Apparently you've never had a dog. I bet if your house were to get burglarized you'd be changing your mind! What are your cats going to do? Rub up against the burglers legs asking for food? At least dogs serve a purpose!
