I'm not talking about people in these forums, but Americans from L.A. to N.Y. I haven't seen the latest gallup polls, but I think I heard somewhere that most Americans care more about the never ending war in Iraq, or gov't corruption, or that Republican little boy sex scandal, than they do immigration. Can someone answer my question, with proven facts?

i think that if they really care about immigration they would have done something about it before, why now when there's an estimated 13-15 million undocumented immigrants? why didn't they do it before when there were only 5-8 million? if illegal immigration was a treating as they say it is, then the government should've made war against illegal immigration instead of Iraq that had nothing to do with terrorist attacks!

I think popular consensus is that most people are more concerned with this war... but the government has been able to blind some with all this rhetoric..... about this fence, about illegals etc..... to keep them stirred up without having them rise up in revolt to a frenzied degree about this war in IRAQ... There is much Racism in America. It is shameful. I agree that people being here illegal potentially cause a major national security problem. We need to know who resides here on our soil....but the have created the system that virtually makes it impossible to become legal. This system was left as such by our government to exploit and pilfer the people from Mexico.....our governments greed is what allowed the attacks of 911. In essence while trying to keep the North American Indians in their place where the white man still thinks they belong....... They created the perfect atmosphere for terrorist to come on our soil and kill. Possibly if the American Government had done right by our Neighboring Mexican Indians 911 would not have happened. I AM NOT A RACIST I AM A REALIST.

I think Americans who live in places that are highly populated by illegal immigrants may care about it more than others, but most Americans do care. If the typical American didn't care about it, the politicians wouldn't be focusing on it so much right now. They know it is an important issue to a lot of people and their stance on it may effect the election.

I KNOW that the average American cares a great deal about immigration. If you really believe that we don't, you are a fool.

Lou Dobbs on CNN is always putting the polls up about where immigration concerns are among the highest where Americans are impacted.

We have discussions while sitting out at the fire in our neighborhood on the weekends. They almost always come around to the issue of immigration. I would say, yes, most Americans are worried about it, in one way or another.
