Larry Holmes would have walked through any of todays heavyweights. Alexis Arguello won three titles and fought anybody who'd get in the ring with him but you never even hear his name mentioned when people talk about the greats. How is Chavez underrated he's always mentioned and he came a few seconds away from losing to Meldrick Taylor who couldn't squash a grape with his best shot?

I would probably say Wilfred Benitez. He gave Leonard and Hearns Good tough fights even though he lost to both and he beat Roberto Duran. He was a wonderful defensive fighter and he ko'd Jr. Middleweight Champ Maurice Hope with one punch. Yet when i hear people talk about those great fighters from the 80's like Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Duran and Pryor, you rarely hear Benitez mentioned with those guys.

Larry Holmes.
Chavez is not underrated at all. If anything, he is way overrated. Most of his victories came against bums and Mexican cab drivers, and as soon as he started to lose, he became a whiner and excuse maker.

Larry Holmes. No matter how many fights he won, or titles he took, he never got the respect that he deserved.
