I have naturally thick wavy hair that right now is 10 inches past my shoulders, and I want to take about 7-8 inches off of it. I have two questions:

1. I want a light, sleek look with different lengths of hair, but I don't want it layered. I think this is called an angled cut, but the last time I asked for this the stylist made it shorter in the back and longer in the front. What should I ask for to get what I want?

2. Will taking so much length off my hair make it a lot thicker and poofier? I've recently thinned my hair out a lot and I've been using a hair straightener and styling products on it and that keeps it down pretty well but maybe it's easier because it's so long, I don't know.

Pictures would help if you have good ones, thanks!

Layered by definition IS different lengths of hair. So you probably do actually want it layered, just not "feathered".

Have them use thinning shears when they cut it. If you hair is naturally really thick you will probably want to continue to use a straightener. Also ask the stylist if they sell any hair "serums". These make your hair look shiny & healthy.

If I were you, I suggest keeping you length, but getting a nice trim. Also, if you don't have really curly hair, layers look totally gorgeous! But, I truly think you should keep your length; some women have extensions but on just to have hair that long.
Also, consider highlights. They're totally "in" right now, and it'll give you a lighter look to your face (if you're already blonde, lighter strands of blonde highlights is really nice!) So I really recommend highlighting if you want to do anything at the salon.

i dont think you should cut it too much. long hair is sexy if you know how to handle it. i really think you should do layers, they outline your face features, and im sure you will look great. if you really dont like layers, than just tell your stylist- shorter in the front, and longer in the back. but if you have a lot of frizz- than you should keep your hair all at the same level.

Why do you want to cut your hair? I mean at least try to grow if it if you can.Actually i think layers is what you should get if you want you r hair a light and sleek look. But you can always ask what they can do for you.Good luck!!!

When you say "different lengths but not layered", do you mean just so that you don't have a completely blunt edge? If yes, I believe it's called "beveling" your hair, or a "bevelled" hair cut.
