Banning books, stopping abortion, stem cell research, invasion of privacy... the list goes on. Would you like it if I came into your house and told you how to live? Why do you strive to do that to me?

congrats chico, you are a victim of your own assertion. I do not seek to make any laws at all. I don't lobby. I do not speak for all atheists. (althought there is a part of me that would think that was really cool)

There is nothing wrong with making a law and then all the people vote on wether they want that or not.
What bothers me is when there is no law about it and they force you to do it. Like the insistance of calling it a Christmas tree.
That really burns me that we don't believe it has anything to do with Christ and we are forced to call it a Christmas tree.
Because some people who haven't looked into the history of the tree tells us that is what they want so you have to do it.
Why? Because that is the way I believe and now you have to do it. Even a compromise and just say holiday tree, NO that is not good enough. NO compromise! You have to call it that>
Why because I said so! That bothers me. Bunch of control freaks.

True for any group lobbying for laws...the statement that no atheist group is pushing for laws and changes is not entirely correct. Examples are winter program in schools as opposed to Christmas, no public prayer at commencement exercises(not all have to participate, I have stepped aside but he push is there) and the list is longer....so what is really being said here "I can see what you are doing wrong but I can not see that I am doing anything wrong" People we need to look before we cross....

Of course they are! I don't see any atheist suggesting that we change the laws in the U.S. to outlaw peoples right to worship. Nor do I see any atheist suggesting that we should ban the bible.
And Christians wonder why they are "picked" on...
My suggestion is leave your morality and religion in your church where it belongs and out of politics and others lives.
As much as you may want to believe it, this is NOT a christian nation and never has been.

When ANYONE lobbies for laws, they're seeking to effect change of some sort! As far as "control over what everyone else does" is concerned, if everyone else doesn't participate or abuse, then whatever is being lobbied for is of no importance to them, now is it?

Christians should try to influence laws bc they govern everyone. We have God's Law and desire for us and so of course we should try to cause other ppl to obey those things. God's Law is just and the best way to live, so for a Christian to not want other ppl to live that way would be wrong and unloving. If I love you as Christ commands, then I want you to live the right kind of life, and you do that by obeying God.

When they are doing that, it is because they refuse to turn their backs on the old system, as Christ said for them to do. They refuse to learn the lesson of Lot's Wife, who could not bring herself to turn her back on the old world. As such, they will meet the same fate.

Yes! They use their religion to stand in the way of progress that is in the best interest of everyone. There is no justification for that kind of ignorance in my opinion.

Of course they are. They don't want to live and let live they want to create a big brother society with them holding the reins of power.

And the secularist don't do exactly the same thing? At least when a Christian does it I know from whence his opinion comes. When the secularist does it, only God knows.

That is the reason I came to hate religion.

Faith based laws are illegal.
