My husband was born in Tepatitlan, Jalisco Mexico, and cannot trace his family back past his great grandparents, who were born in the same place. How can we inquire further back? Thank you!

The Mormons have some vital records from Mexico. Go to

read the tips. Set the country and state to Jalisco. You may get lucky. Most of the records will be church records. It is possible to write to churches to ask for copies of records, but it gets tricky when you try to pay them across national borders. The Bishop's office may have gathered all the records into a central place. He may not.

I'm not familiar with that part of Mexico - but go to the Catholic Church. Start with the small one in the Town and work your way up. The Church ran everything and was the record keeper. Probably still is in most parts of the Country. It would have birth, baptismal, marriage, death, etc. records. Good Luck!!
