Their government wanted the princes back, and considered the marine taking her from their country as an act of war. Threat level was elevated to defcon 3 and our armed forces were called up. There was a huge battle where thousands lost their lives, just so this marine could have some R&R with a princess. It ended as one of the most bloody battles ever with 49 Million dead and millions others wounded. Nukes were never used but it was close. To this day the story is known as the "Slut and the Jarhead".

I recall a real life incident where a military private married a Muslim noblewoman against the wishes of her family. He brought her to the U.S. where they set up house keeping. Approximately one year later they divorced and she returned to her country in the Arab world. This occurred about 5/6 years ago.
