Where to get a less expensive massage?

I used to get a massage every month at the spa and it cost around 50-55 dollars, plus tip. Now the prices have skyrocketed, and I really need to go get a massage!
Am I just being cheap? Is there anywhere that offers less expensive massages?

Is there a school of massage therapy or a college/university that offers massage therapy training near you? The trainees have to get a certain amount of experience before they're licensed, and one of the ways those schools make money is by allowing the students to give massages to the general public, either on a walk-in basis or by appointment (don't worry, the students are ALWAYS supervised by teachers who are licensed massage therapists). Here in the Detroit area there are several schools that offer this, and their prices are pretty darned reasonable -- $15.00 for back and neck, $30.00 for full-body.

massage schools -- you should be able to get a good masssage for 1/2 the price.
they are not free, but students do need hands on time, & they don't "practice" until they are at least 1/2 way thru the training.
i use to go get massages at the massage schools when i was in college & didn't have a lot of money.
sometimes if i need one "NOW" and my regular therapist is booked, i still call the local school, as they often can fit you in right away.

You can call thoses places that advertise in the classified of news papers... but those places are a sometimes a little unscrupulous if you know what i mean.

If you do decide to go - think twice before you opt for the "happy ending"
