A sundae is a dessert of (usually) ice cream and toppings. There can be multiple flavors of ice cream, or just one - same thing with toppings, like hot fudge, or butterscotch, or berry syrups.

A banana split is like a sundae, but you have a banana split the long way lining each side of the dish in addition.

Yes, they are good - like everything else, in moderation.

Where do you live?? In the USA a sundae is a dessert made with icecream. It gets its name from the fact that during a period of our history, alcohol was outlawed by our government, so people would go out and get colas or fountain drinks. Somebody mixed icecream into one, and started calling it a sundae and the name stuck. Sundae was named because Sunday (a day of the week considered Holy by most people at the time) gave it a wholesome image.

Hot fudge sundaes and butterscotch sundaes are WONDERFUL. But the hot fudge has to be real hot fudge, thiick and gooey, not just chocolate sauce.
