I think Muslim women in Britain should not wear the Vail. If Muslims come to Britain they should be prepared to integrate fully into the British way of life even if it means not wearing the Vail. I think if the Muslim population integrated as well as people of the Hindu religion there would be far fewer conflicts in our towns and cities.

It is all inbred into their religion, and in thieir own country it would probably make sense. Those who live in this country still follow their religion very strongly and sometimes this seems silly to westerners. The Veil could be used to cover up ones identity and easily lead to fraud. A man may go to a muslim country and bring back any female with the same colour eyes passing her off as his own and illegally entering her into the country, with the complete all over covering who would know?... There are a few reasons why they should reconsider the veil in the UK but, as with most other Muslim sensitive areas it will create a backlash and Muslims are never backward in coming forward, quite often forcefully, if they feel something may be construed as insulting their faith whether it is or whether it is just common sense...
Why they feel the need to second rate the females of their culture suprises me but I guess it takes allsorts.
It is completely unfair though to demand others remove their hoods for perfectly sensible and understandable reasons then exclude another culture from this. It is similar to the school children being allowed to carry ceremonial daggers to school as a symbol, then not allow anyone else from having a simple pocket knife.... In fairness, if one culture is allowed to flaunt the rules and others aren't there will be a backlash...............
Too many limp wristed leftie do gooders will always appease minorities for their votes and image..... these people are the real danger............
So in answer to your question I would say Yes, but only if that women feels comfortable enough to do this.....

They should be allowed to wear whatever they want, as long as it does not interefere with existing school and/or workplace policies. In the US, we have this sort of freedom to dress as we choose, as long as it does not encroach upon others, and as long as it does not interfere with our separation of Church and State, which is in our founding papers.
For example, if any person is wearing something obstructive while getting a driver's license photo taken, that should be illegal, regardless of religion, because of the separation of Church and State- one has nothing to do with the other. It sounds silly, but would a christian be allowed to wear a big, obstructing cross in an official photo and say, "oh, but it's my religion..".
Another example would be that students in school should not be permitted to wear clothing that weapons can easily be concealed under, such as trench coats (which is now a standard in many schools due to Columbine), so that should also include loosely worn religious clothing.. unless the school is a "muslim school" (like a "catholic school"), there still exists a separation of church and state and nothing should violate that.
There are tooooooooooooooo many bleeding hearts out there who don't realize that these laws are put in place for a reason and that everyone should be expected to follow them, not just exempting the "special" people.

I'm afraid the way I see it is if you come into this country you should respect people enough to speak in ENGLISH , with the Vail yes you should get rid, if their husbands don't like it go back to where you came from where they have it as law,if you can wear the Vail on your licence then any one of them can drive and you wouldn't no if it was the right licence holder or not, surely that's wrong, this country is really going down hill .

It's a free country and people should be allowed to wear pretty much anything they want. I dont agree with those who come here and don't show any respect for our country, culture and traditions but I think at the end of the day muslim women should be able to wear what they want as should all people. I don't think that someone wearing the veil should get any preferential or special treatment though e.g if they wanted to work somewhere uniformed then they should have to dress the same as everyone else and not wear their veil. As you say, it is not the majority who do wear the veil anyway.
Muslim women do not wear the veil for a reaction. They wear it to keep themselves from unwanted attention from men (which you can understand if you've ever had to walk past a pack of wolfwhistling workies ladies!). They also want for only their husbands to see them in a sexual manner and so they cover up to hide their beauty from other men. I bet that half the ones you se wearing the veil are really very beautiful underneath :)

If someone wants to wear a veil then its their decision. Whats not right is when you claim people should be forced not to wear one. Many people who chose to wear a veil are 2nd generation migrants and its a personal choice. Everyone deserves a choice on what they do, just because they are migrants means nothing anyone who says people should be forced to fit in is out of order. If i was the same as everyone in Britain i would be ashamed.

No they should be allowed to wear whatever they like. That's one of the joy's of living in a free society.
However, I do believe that everybody should have to show their full face for identification purposes - such as in photographs for passports or drivers licences. It seems insane to me that some women have in the past, and possibly still are, have been allowed to keep their face fully covered up in them. Religion has absolutely nothing to do with it. We should all be expected to follow the same rules for this.
After all, it's not like millions of people are going to see the photo... and the few that do are only the people who NEED to see it, so they are able to determine easily if that is indeed you in the photograph - and not somebody else that's pretending to be you, who just happens to have the same eye colour.
it's just seems like common sense really. :-)

Corinthians has a passage that announces females could conceal their hair in church. in spite of the indisputable fact that, on the time it became written veils were commonplace gown for married females in Roman society. the guideline became telling females to offer up being awesome by skill of putting out their veils! Veils have lengthy been an illustration of modesty or perhaps decency. for many the finest 2000 years, a married woman became envisioned to hide her hair at the same time as in public, so it made sense to depict Mary in addition bundled up out of recognize for her.

Freedom of choice, they should be allowed to wear the veil. The veil signifies their religion, just as much as the Habit signifies that of a Nun. If we restrict the veil, then we must also restrict the wearing of the Nuns dress code.

Women in any culture should be able to choose how they dress. Provided women are choosing to wear the veil, then their choice should be respected; so should the choice of women who do not wear the veil.
It is irrelevant whether similar rights are respected in other countries or not. Britain is a free democracy, which upholds freedom of choice, including people's different dress choices. If we attack our neighbours' rights, we attack all our rights.

It depends on wheter or not the individual person wants to stay true to their traditions. I don't think the entire group of muslim women should. Why smash our traditions? It should be an individual decision.
