Berlin wall was made to keep people from leaving, more so than it was to keep people from coming in... BIG difference
A sovereign nation has the right to secure its border and prevent 'illegals' or foreigners from coming in

The funds HAVE been appropriated for the fence. It is to curtail the illegal immigration of people at the USA-Mexican Border and at the Canadian Border. No, it won't STOP all entry, but it is one way we will curtail the influx. If illegal immigrants aren't caught and turned around at the border they will get a rude awakening when they try to get a job, welfare, rent a home or get medical care. They will need documentation to prove they are here legally. If they don't have it they will be either deported or imprisoned. Life won't be so rosy. They may as well stay in their own country.
Not only are we getting a fence. We are also getting what is called a 'Virtual fence'. It is cameras which are monitored, motion sensors and aerial surveillance. Boeing was given the contract. When you combine a fence, virtual fence, Border Patrol, Minutemen, laws enforced within the country to deport illegals, I believe the problem will eventually be reduce immensely. I hope so anyway.

No. A country has the right to defend it's borders. Most of the things that are coming into the US from the Mexican border that have us worried are drugs and criminals. Most other people come to the US through legal channels. Notice no border fence or wall at the Canadian border because Canada is not a 3rd world country filled with criminals and others who don't care about right and wrong.

I would hardly compare the Mexicans to Palestinians. Mexico isn't a government that refuses to recognize the United States as a nation, nor do they actively attack the US. If the United States wants to put up a fence, on it's own land, to better secure the border against human and drug trafficking, which is a peaceful endeavor, then no other nation has the right to complain.

The Berlin wall was to keep people in. Israeli wall is to keep terrorist out. Our wall is designed to keep people from bypassing our customs and immigration people. there is no real malice behind this wall it's purpose and goals are many fold. 1 keep out terrorist 2. prevent illegals from sneaking across the border. 3 to cut old drug smuggling routes through the desert which are also used by illegals. The other walls you mention were built for mainly military reasons.

NO HOPEFULLY it will be bigger, stronger and almost unbreakable and digs deep into the ground so there will be no use in making tunnels...
i feel bad for any illegals coming into this country by running across the borders but there IS another way besides that... look at other minorites coming from other countries. my parents themselves came from another country. too many drugs are flowing in to our country and that must stop. who knows if terrorists have already come into the US through the borders.
but if they build a wall on the US-Mexico border then the same must be done on the US-Canada border! it makes sense

It is not like the Berlin wall, which divided a city based upon a war. It is like the Israel-Palestine wall, which is intended to solidify the security of Israel.

It is similar, the same retrograde idea, but in the case of the Mexican border is just an Utopia, because any wall or fence can divide Nations. Shame on Bush!

The idea sounds good in paper. "Let's build the biggest, thickest, tallest and most dangerous wall this world has ever seen!". Too bad drugdealers have the means and illegal immigrants have the will to cross any wall they might have to encounter. There are still planes, ships, tunnels, legal immigration... So if you think about it, you're placing a wall between humans, the only species in the world who are known to do all sorts of crazy things to achieve their goals, it's kind of a joke if you ask me.

It is like the Berlin wall because it's got to do with Political reasons. And it is like the one between Palestina and Israel because it is about seizing occupied territories.
