I have a Canon Pixma MP500 multifuntion printer and every paper I use is different. What is really the best for true photos?

Every printer manufacturer has formulated their inks to work BEST with a certain brand of paper - usually their own. http://www.wilhelm-research.com/ is a great site where they continually evaluate various printer/ink/paper combinations. I'd suggest you spend a little time prowling about on that site and see if they have a recommendation for you.

This page has an article about various PIXMA printers and paper selection:

There's always debate about whether to use glossy or matte and this is ultimately a matter of personal taste.

Typically you want to use the same brand of paper that your printer is.

One thing to consider is that multifunction printers are not the best for printing photos. I know this from frustration with my Epson multifunction printer. The best prints will come from a dedicated photo printer. But be prepared, they can eat up ink fast.

The best paper for your machine is the same brand name as your printer. Canon for Canon, HP for HP etc.

I would go with the tried and true Kodak...it has always done well for me.
