I have psychological stress and bipolar. Are there any medications to counter irritability and the like? Anti depressants don't do the job, as despair is different from depression

Yes, there are lots of different medications out there. Start by talking to your doctor. Despair is caused by unresolved depression which is a chemical imbalance.

Despair is different from depression. However despair can be a sign of depression. Is the depression side of your bipolar illness under control? If you are still feeling despair make sure that your depression is under control. Once your stress and bipolar illness is well controlled you should not feel despair any longer.
I know this is very hard for you and you probably feel as if you are the only one going through this, but you are not. There are many of us out here. I am just recovering from severe depression and am getting a little better now. I wish the same for you.

Have you tried Cymbalta? Many are having great success with this new antidepressant for a range of chemical imbalances. It works on both Serotonin and Epinephrine.

you have to try many of the mood stabilizers that do in fact lift mood one in particular i know is limictal and people swear by this..but this is only part of the treatment then you need to seek cognitive behaviorial therapy a must for your type of dx
