Long distance relationships can work, but rarely do. Relationships are built on trust, communication, and companionship. You will never get to know the true side of her in this situation. Things are nice and romantic right now, but it gets old after a while. You're still both lonely and a commitment between the two of you won't help.
Best of luck. Enjoy what you have, but understand that it might not be forever.

In the long run, it won't work, because the old adage "absence makes the heart grow fonder" is rarely true. Usually absence makes the heart forget. While you are apart, you will each run into other people you are attracted to and inevitably find it more rewarding to hook up with someone you can actually see regularly, than wait for someone you only see occasionally. If its going to work, one of you will have to move.

Yeah sometimes it can work if you want it to, and if you really like/love each other. I met my husband 8 years ago he lived here and i lived in Sweden, used to talk on phone every day for couple of hours, and visited when ever we had a chance. and got married a year after, and now have 2 kids, and still very much in love.

I live in Brazil and my boyfriend lives in Ohio. Although it's really hard it's WAY worth it! We are talking on the phone or computer most hours of the day. It's easier than it could be because of internet phones. But you have to be very close and very into eachother for it to work. If your not totally in love to begin with it will just fall apart because you'll be more open to meeting other people and same with her.

It would be doomed to failure if neither one of you had means to travel. But, it sounds like you do. Lots of people with full-time jobs don't see their new loves until the weekend anyways.
With IMing, email, digital cameras, and frequent flyer miles, you can make it work. Good luck to you, I'm sure she's wonderful.

Well, some folks say no and others say yes so i just think it's up to you as indiviual as to how serious you are about each other and all . If your love is strong for each other it could last i have heard of people that met one another thru some dating on and or thru the t.v meeting center like that "E-harmony " .com that the people say they met each other and have been together for yrs.or even months whatever. ! So once again it's just up to both of you.

It seems everyone has their own story...it depends on you and if you really want this. Of course, one of you will have to move at the end. but at least, yours is within the same country - it is a lot easier than compared to mine. I have it in another country. Everything is within your powers.
One of the guys I know used to say his girlfriend would have to live close by. in the end, he married a girl from a 'not-so-close-by part of town' who he met on a hiking trip. It's your story, there's no general rule.

As long as at some point one of you takes a step of moving to be with another person, it may just work. But if it remains long-distance... What's the point?

Take it as it comes. Don't seclude yourself to her...date other people, but enjoy her company when you can both see each other. Don't put any pressure so there's really no room for success or failure.
