My brother`s life was saved after a bad motorbike accident, only because, one guy, a specialist, came in off leave to operate on him. My youngest daughter would not be here today, if it was not for another consultant, doctor, who was called in to help, after her birth went terribly wrong, and the midwives needed him to come and take over. Only afterwards, do we realise, when the panic is over, how grateful we are, but don`t get to thank them, as they have gone back to resume their duty, expecting no thanks, and we don`t even know their name. I think these people are special, but it is just a job to them, anyone else agree with me?

A Moment for You

There are angels on earth
and I know you’re one.

Like an angel,
you watch over special ones.

Keeping them safe from harm,
and making sure they’re alright.

Lifting them up,
and restoring hope in their life.

Guiding them toward happiness,
no one ever needs to feel alone.

Because you’re loving presence is never far,
and your wings are never known.

But their constant comfort is felt every day,
So, if you ever wonder, you do make a difference in everyway.

Yes you are right on. Until we need them we never really appreciate how valuable they are. At times, with their knowledge, they literally bring people back from death.

As for thanking them. There really is no need and your right they don't expect it. The reason? For every save they have there will be others that they cannot save. For them it is a blessing in an of itself to be able to help someone and make them whole again.
It makes the pain of loosing the others a bit more bearable.

That said I do know there seems to be some doctors who have no bedside manor at all. It seems the patient is just one more number to them. Not true. Most have devoted their whole self to insuring that nothing gets by them. They study and train forever to insure they are the best....and in so doing loose that personal touch. What they do...and the results they have....is it's own reward for them. These are the specialists that deserve your praise.

Yeah - they are good. But there's a whole other raft of healthcare professionals who should command this sort of admiration. Often as not their interaction is less life critical; but the impact of an Occupational Therapist, for example, in getting you back and on your feet; or a Phyiotherapist in getting you muscles working again - THESE are the forgotten many.

Then, of course, you have the people who support all of these...... but I need to stop somewhere.

Your point is valid however; healthcare professionals should command a lot of respect.

Yes i feel the same,a doctor noticed my very sick son when he was a baby and immediately sent him to hospital and all the time he was on the ward the doctor phoned to see how he was doing.Anyone who works in the medical field saving lives deserves every penny they make,I believe they should be on the top wages possible because without them many people wouldn't be here today.

Phew, for a horrible moment there I thought you meant the other sort of consultant, you know the kind that charge you a fortune to tell you something you already know.

Saves bashing out another rant anyway, Cheers!

these people should be given medals, they are life savers, i had an appendix attack which could have killed me, a few weeks before i had the attack my doc said i had a water infection, (he was wrong) when i got to the hospital, i told the medics what my doc said, and they diagnosed it straight away, a few minutes later i was in the operating theatre having my appedix removed, i will always be grateful to this man for doing this because i was so close to death

All professions have a wide range of staff, both in levels of competency and personality; nevertheless, all should be thanked just for being in a high demand and critical profession.
