I am playing Hermione in a school play (all boys school) production. I got a wig from a costume catalogue but it doesn't seem to fit right at all. It feels too tight and its hard to get my own hair inside it.

Does anyone have any advice for wearing a wig for a play. How do I keep my own hair inside it? The hair around my ears keeps falling out. Also, it feels like the wig is moving even if I just wear it for 30 minutes but move around.

My mom said maybe I need to go to a proper wig store in a local strip mall and get fitted there and return this one. Do you think she's right?

Your mom is probably right, but there is a certain way to put a wig on. If your hair is long enough to braid, you can make two braids and wrap them around your head and pin them down with hair pins and you can wear a hair net over that and then you put the wig on,if your hair is not long enough to braid you can just pin your hair back with hair pins and then put the hair net on and then put the wig over that, use hair pins to anchor the wig in place. Good luck and have fun.

get a cap for the inside of the wig to hols your own hair--they sell these at beauty supply stores or wig shops

also, use bobby pins to hold the wig in place

you don't want to buy a wig cuz it's just for the show so these methods should help
