So far I have been to two of three (I am a boyscout and many peopl in my troop have obtained the rank of eagle). I know your situation and the answer is yes, you should bring a gift. I always do :) just think about all the hard work they put into getting eagle and the serivce projects are deffinatly worth getting the person a gift so enjoy and I hope this helps you :)

A small gift is appropriate as well as a note of congratualtions. If part of their service project required funding and is an ongoing project perhaps a donation to the project would be good.

It depends on how close you are to him. At the least I would get, or send him a card with a personal note of congratulations. I write a dozen or more congratulations letters a year. There is a site where you can even send e-cards:

Make sure you sign the guestbook.. He'll keep that, along with his letters and cards for a lifetime.

A card for sure.
If you knew him well, a gift too.
This is a big step and achievement for the scout and you should feel honored that he wanted you there to share in his moment.

A card, and maybe, a gift card.
