I once referred to myself as a fool in an answer and received a violation notice for abusive behaviour towards other users. I thanked someone for their answer in Additional Details once and got a violation for chatting and personal comms. I contacted them but there was no indication they ever even read it.
If you've received a violation for hateful messages, racism, gratuitous obscenity or not asking a proper question, violations are fair enough and the rest of us are glad you're busted. But there are so many examples of the above kind of foolishness. Has anyone here ever received a (real, not automatic) reply from the people who silently police these boards, and has anyone who has appealed ever had their question/answer or points reinstated? Anyone at all?

I had two violations today. One was fair enough...a person was spewing hate and bashing everyone on the board last night. I told him that I felt he was behaving like a Nazi. He's still on the board, my reply is gone. Oh well.
The other was completely unfair. I merely asked what lessons people had learned from their grandparents. I was honored that everyone shared really touching and personal stories. Most dealt with triumph over tragedy, which definitely made it a spiritual question and answer session.
I was deleted for chatting, which is the usual reason I am given. I don't bother appealing the violations because it does no good. For proof of this, you need only visit the forum. People anguish over this daily.
Chatting is a violation because it is not the sharing of knowledge (say what??). Spewing hate is allowed, because it is a transference of knowledge. At least that is the only real answer I have ever been given. Don't even try to make sense of it.

I didn't know you could appeal. I only got violated once for asking a question about my 360 page.

I get reported for stupid reasons constantly. Just the other day I asked "WWFSMD?" and also "WWWSIDRD?" so they delete the FSM one and leave the one about the WSIDR? I always appeal because I like to think it annoys them and it helps me vent my frustrations. I don't think I've ever gotten a question reinstated or my points back. It's an automated system and it's complete BS. Screw those guys.

There is no regulation on this. Seemingly mundane things get violations everyday while the most disgusting or hateful things just rage on. It's happened to me more times than I can remember.

Ive attempted appealing before - I got a threatening message that they would delete me if I continued. Now you know why my screename is what it is...it is directed at Y!A admin.

I have received a few, and they have been equally absurd. I have appealed and haven't heard anything back.

I only got one violation and I didn't appeal it. I deserved it. But this guy said some really sexist, nasty, degrading things, and he should have been reported. My only regret was that I couldn't really cuss him out thanks to the editing system.

Yes I had it just now.
Their judgement is as per the guide lines.
No use appealing.
