I disagree. I would say that the Bible has the human race pretty well pegged.

I won't be "nasty" although some of the answers so far, are. I agree that the bible is NOT realistic--& perhaps was never intended to be. There are lots of metaphors, & the "prophets" over great spans of time contradict each other. Is it realistic to believe Eve was made of Adam's rib? I've observed that people who "believe" in the bible selectively interpret what they wish were true, for their own "needs." Some of this very SPOOKY. BORN in sin? Hello?

The Bible is a book of application.
B: Basic
I: Instructions
B: Before
L: Leaving
E: Earth

Think about this you buy a new bed and decide that your going to put it together however you read the instructions but don't do what it says. Then you say ah this book doesn't work.

Is it the book or is it you.

John 8:31
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

Have you ever applied it to your life?

If you do you will see how true it is

I never took the bible literally. To me, it's more like Aesop's fables, where each story simply tells a moral lesson. I thinks it's absurd that anyone would think it actually happened. That would be like believing Tortoises and Hares often have races and talk, too. That's not to say I don't think there are some good messages in the bible. There are. I mean - be nice to each other, don't judge, don't be a jerk, don't kill people, don't steal stuff. To me - these are good moral tidbits to live by. But I'm also a heathen, so what do I know? :)

I agree that the bible at times is unrealistic, I am a Christian the bible does baffle me but I look it it as some things are not of my comprehension and i trust it to be true 100%

Actually, I personally find just the opposite to be true. When I'm in it and studying it seems very real. It seems the least real to me when I've been away from it for a long time.

Now that I think of it, I guess that's just an example the verse, "Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God"

Totally. My pastor warned me seminary could easily make me an atheist. It actually took seminary and half a doctorate in Bib Lit to do that. Once you really understand how it all came together, not only can you not believe it any longer, but you can't believe you were gullible enough to believe in the first place, because it's not that good a con job. It's just that in our culture we are so conditioned to assume it's all true without close scrutiny or critical examination. It can withstand neither, but as you see here regularly, a lot of people are determined to believe no matter what, as they are in fact trained to do, ignoring all evidence as though to do so is a spiritual virtue.

Disagree. There is alot of history that people want to change, but how do they go about changing history just because they didn't like it. I guess one way is to say it never happened. It is a sad day when they can no longer pretend, and to think God told us what's going to happen. Hope you seriously open your heart to God before you mean nothing to him.

I agree.
Santa clause is more likely to exist than God.
Miracles are in the Bible so that 'believers' can demonstrate to the powers that be that they are prepared to take leave of their senses and follow blindly. If the Bible was realistic, it could not serve this purpose as believing it would demonstrate nothing.
