I've been told that if you do this there might adverse affects !

my laptop came with both.. and they work fine.

Remove MS Works through the control panel and then install office. Otherwise you will have both installed once you install office.

There are no adverse affects of removing Works or having both installed I did it to make sure I didn't need Works then removed it later.

Yes. No adverse affects will occur. I run both on my computer without problems.

uninstall works
start setting control pannel add remove programs
then install office

this is the cleanest way
causes least amount of problems

Of course you can. I always yank Works first because it just takes up space and you won't use it if you have Office.

yes, with no issues. and look for the student version of office, which includes word, excel, powerpoint, and I think access all for 139.00
