Where can I see a list of programs that are running with XP?

I would like to see a list of programs that are running on my computer at any given time on my computer. I use Windows XP.

Is there a place I can go that will show me what programs are running even if I they do not show up on the screen?

For Win XP the proper sequence is Ctrl-Shift-Esc. This will open Task manager and show all Applications and processes that are running. Applications shows what programs are active, while processes show everything necessary to run your computer. There is a performance tab to check how well you are running, a networking tab and a users tab to show who is logged on.

You want the Task Manager.

Press the cntrl, alt and delete buttons all at once and there will be a dialogue that opens. One option will be Task Manager. Click that to open the Task Manager. Then click the Processes tab. It will show you all the running processes.

Another way to open Task Manager it is to right-click in the System Tray at the lower right hand corner of your screen.

In the "PROCESSES" tab....

Either....

1) alt-ctrl-del

-OR-

2) Right Click in the task bar ( the blue bar on the bottom of your screen) and Left Click Task "Manager"

CTRL ALT DELETE, this opens the task manager, this will showi you EVERYTHING running on your computer. All programs as well as processes. Good Luck.

the first tab shows what's running, you can click end task if you do not want it running
