I haven't had one, but I have worked on a Neurology floor for the past twelve years and seen many epilepsy patients get a temporal lobectomy to hopefully relieve them of their seizures. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and some even have a second surgery to see if it will work. The only ones I have seen most successful are when they only have one seizure focus, meaning the seizures start in only one temporal lobe and that's it. Then they have to make sure they remove the exact spot. It's a tricky situation. Dr. Howard is the one who does the surgeries here, he is the head of the Dept of Neuro Surgery and I can give you his email address if you have any questions. He is from Iowa City, Ia. : matthew-howard@uiowa.edu He's very good and will answer your email right away. Good luck!
