Title: CHOCOLATE COVERED ANTS
Categories: Snacks, Desserts
Yield: 6 servings

1742 lg Ants, (if they are sm.,
-use 2,044)
3 c Melted chocolate

Catch ants at a picnic site and keep them in a glass jar to which you
have added a teaspoon of sugar to keep them happy. (Unhappy ants are
liable to go sour before processing.) At home, pick up each ant with
tweezers and remove entrails with a small, very sharp knife edge.
This will take about 400 hours. If you are in a hurry, eliminate
this step; you'll never know the difference. Dip each ant into melted
chocolate and place to drain on waxed paper. If any of them are
still able to crawl off the paper, let them go -- be a good sport!!

Sure have! The flavor of the chocolate overwhelms any flavor the ant might have. Kind of like eating a chocolate covered Rice Krispie or a Krackle candy bar.

I was tricked into it once. I learned how to DJ by working at a club in Nashville owned by some Arabs and one of the bouncers offered me some chocolate confection. I tried it and it tasted kind of like a bland Nestle Crunch bar.

He then told me it was chocolate covered ants.

It's okay not good or great.

afraid i have, actually you dont know your eating anything but chocolate, because the ants are small they stick a few together in a chocolate coin type sweet,it doesnt look very appealing seeing the black ants in white chocolate but it was worth while as i won a bet,you wont know your eating them honestly, try them and see!

Yes they are. delicious and crunchy (and to be honest, the ant doesn't taste of much, so it is essentially a weird shaped chocolate). I highly recommend them.

Sorry, never had the ants.Bit too small.Crickets are yummy And grubs covered in chocolate.
Weird but true:in Indonesia they use just born, hairless mice on sticks for dipping.
According to my parents:a delicious recipe.

yeah they taste like chocolate with a little tiny crunch... not so much crispy... but almost like a real thin small tiny raisin... but its just the feeling of it... it doesn't taste like anything because the chocolate taste is so overpowering
