Well, quite frankly, I AM better than some others.
I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me ;-)

Unfortunatley, some ppl are better than others. but in my opinion, being better than someone is not based on looks, intelligence (ok ok, maybe a little) or money.
What I mean is if someone saw a man drop 50 bucks and didnt return it, then I would say the person who would chase the man down to give him back his fifty bucks is a better person than the person who kept the money.
I think people with a good heart, and strong character and true sense of what makes a person great are the better ppl. Not the people who look down on others because they dont possess material things.
And finally we are all created equl, it just that people dont act dont act like it.

I would say some people are better than others....
Scenario1... someone else... living on benefits, never lifted a finger, never done an honest days work in their life, well known for shoplifting and having little brats bred purely to make more in benefits...
Scenario 2.... YOU... work hard for a living, pay your own way, and abide by the laws of the land....
surely you can see that you are a much better person than the first case...
Scenario 3... Someone else... spends years studying and getting qualifications, takes care in things that they do, including communication skills.. makes an effort to achieve....
Scenario 4... YOU... Dropped out of school to have a baby, never bothered with a proper education, talk street slang and have no interest in themselves or others.........
Surely you can see that the other person is better than you... These are just examples by the way and I am in no way having a go at anyone.
It all boils down to the respect in which you refer to "others being better". Most people have something that they can do that makes them better at something than someone else who, in turn, may have something they can do better than you...
As for the rather pathetic statement "All men were created equal" as in mankind then if you wish (As someone who believes this statement) that you are on a par with someone who commits murder and child sex crimes, that we are all equal then more fool you (As the person who may believe this not you personally)
So, in answer to your question... some people simply are better that others..... no matter how much it may upset the others....
And some people just think that they are, but are quite often not.....

I have met three rich people recently and they were all obnoxious but they seemed to respect me because I stood up to them.
I have met another person recently who thought they were better than others and this was because of religious and status snobbery. They were rude and showed no respect, just wanted their own way.
Could people think that they are better than you because they are very introspective, have little real lifeworld experience and absolutely no respect for others until someone points out to them just how they are coming across?

They're comparison of what they have to anothers lack of something. Generally I believe its just good old fashion arrogance. That person is what we scientifically term as an A S S H O L E.

Ultimately, when someone has the need to show that they are better than someone else it is because they have an underlying poor self image. The boaster who always has to show off his/her new thing or accomplishment really thinks so poorly of themselves that they have to put down others to bolster their own image. People who truly love themselves are capable of waiting for others to compliment them and accept those compliments with gratitude, humility and grace.

i think im better than others cos of the way i tend to treat others (mostly) and cos of my common sense and intelligence.
some (not all) people seem to treat people terribly and therefore i think im better than they are.
some (not all) people tend to not be able to figure out simple life problems and therefore i think i am better than they are.
some (not all) people are just thick and therefore i think i am better than they are.
but other days i am a simple, humble man.

I wish I knew, I so dislike those sort of people, no one is better than anyone no matter who or what they are, never let anyone tell you otherwise, your values and opinions are just as important as the next persons, be yourself and never become like them.

grrr, I have a sister that does this, she has money (only cos her bf is a drug dealer) and she thinks that cos me, my partner and our kids live to our means and cant afford to go places like she does that shes better than me!
Well shes not, I know that, shes just insecure, they all are, no one is better than anyone else,
we are all equal!
well except the queen!
