would it be harmful to do every body part in one day 3 times a week?

or should i split it up in to back, tricepts, and legs at the gym one day and the next do shoulders, chest, bicepts the next?

that cant be right...i thought there were more body parts...legs(upper and calves) tricepts, back, chest, shoulders (delts and trapzas), bicepts...hm...

(abs every day)

If you exercise three times a week, exercising every part of your body is okay. When working out however, don't concentrate on abs for 10 minutes, then biceps for 10 minutes, then shoulders for 10 minutes, etc. Alternate workouts in your routine. I myself like to do alternating sets of biceps and triceps, for example. I do upper body work, go to leg work, go back to different body work, go back to different leg work, then finish out with abs.

When I used to work out (I am a former US Marine), I worked out everyday, but alternated parts of my body. The resting time in between workouts is just as important as the workouts, but you have to find the groove that is right for your body. I am a small person, so I was able to alternate 3 different "work-out days", which meant that I would work a part of my body one day, then for the next two days, I would rest it while working on other areas.

I don't know how body builders do it, other than putting their bodies to excess and sometimes using drugs to look the way they do. I suggest doing it the healthy way, like I have outlined above. Good luck.

lol yeah you better get your body parts straight! lol Working full body 3 times a week is good. This is what I do. I like it this way as I can do other things the other days. Ideally you want to work each body part 3 times a week for good results anyway. Now should I name those body parts for you? hmmm
