I was prescribed xanax .5 and want to know if it is safe to still take my diet pill Liprodrene with ephedra. Just don't want to a deady reaction.

Of course it's not safe. That's a no-brainer. Ephedra is illegal, first of all. Second, it raises your heart rate so significantly that it can cause permanent damage and death. Taking the Xanax (which you must want so that you can come down off the Ephdra and get some sleep) will throw your heart into slow gear. Then you'll take the Ephdra again and throw it into high gear.
I hope you understand this.

The only person you should be asking this question to is the pharmacist who gives you you Xanax. Don't listen to anyone except your doctor or the pharmacist.

Was this your doctor's prescription? He is the best person to answer this... If it was his prescription and you do not feel secure, change to another doctor... there is nothing like trusting on what your doctor says.
If you are prescribing yourself, I recommend you to stop.
