If so, how intense is your fear? (Do you think about it daily or take irrational precautions etc) If you're not afraid to die, why not? (Do you believe in certain religion or philosophy that abate this fear?) Please include your age.

In my late 50's I am not afraid to die, more of the pain associated with dying. I am not a religious person. Life is precious and I don't think about death daily, rather living.

Your thoughts on this will change as you get older. I am in my forites and I do not fear death. I fear the way that I will die and this is why I take precautions. It is not irrational and it doesn't consume me. There are people that I admire that are very spiritual and they say that it doesn't matter to them how they will die. When it's time it' s time. They believe this life is only a phase of their souls journey.

Yeah, at this point in my life I'm scared to die. I have things I want to do first. Maybe later, when I'm like 75 I won't feel so bad about dying, but right now it would suck for both me (although if it happened quickly I wouldn't know it anyway) and my family. I'm 35.

By the way, this answer is the first time I've thought about death this week, so I'm not irrational about it or anything.

I'm 23 years old, I almost died in a car accident and I wouldn't of even noticed. As long as I die quick and easy I don't know what's coming to me. I had a friend that practiced some weird dark religion and he threw himself off the top of a parking garage. It was so sad, but to him that was the only way to "save" himself. I just don't understand that dark crap. I would never kill myself but I'm not that afraid to die. It'll happen when the time comes. But I am scared as heck of getting murdered- that would be so horrible. Or getting run down by a car in a parking lot.

I am 61 years young and not only am I not afraid to die there has been times in my life I have welcomed it. I am a devout Christian. My faith gives me the belief and hope that I will someday sit beside God in heaven if I live a godly life down here. I so look forward to that moment. Death is not the end it is the beginning.

i think everyone is afraid to die, but its the way one dies that i think is the most fearful. i hope i die in my sleep of old age (this is wishful thinking i know). one could die of so many things is something we shouldn't think about or we would never get out of bed. one thing i would say though, is every day we live its a day nearer our death so live every day as though it was your last and enjoy life because so many people don't get a chance to live a full life. being a roman catholic i hope there is such a thing as life after death and we all go to heaven and meet our loved ones that has gone before us but we wont know until we go as know one has been and returned and tell us what happens. 33 year old male

Petrified!!!! I am 26 and the reason I am so scared is because I have no clue as to what is on the other side. More then that though, I have a 3 and a 6 year old, and they depend on me!!

I'm more afraid of dying too soon, or living too long, not of the physical act of dying.

Precautions - Life Insurance, a will, a Power of Attorney (medical), a living will a good retirement plan.

I am not afraid to die. It is the "getting there" that I am afraid of. The pain and suffering so many people have to go through due to cancer and other illnesses. My choice would be to go like my Uncle did. Go to bed one night and just not wake up!

I'm 26, I am not scared of dying per se, it is a part of life. But I do not want to die young, and I do not want to die painfuly. But it's not something I think about constantly.
