we are having my son's 2nd b-day party next weekend and my brother in law has 4 kids, and for the activity i have planned for the kids i really need to know if they are coming or not. they have a majority of the kids that will be here. see i am buying pumpkins and will have the kids painting pumpkins outside for party favor gifts, instead of those cheap toys in the little bags. so anyway, should i call them to see if they are coming?

Yes--there's not harm in calling him. Just tell them that you need to know the exact numbers for one of the activities.

If you don't feel comfortable calling and asking, just buy the extra few pumpkins. It might be a smart idea to have a few extra on hand anyway (for accidental breakage, if one pumpkin turns out to be have rot, or if an adult wants to join in on the fun). At the very least, you'll have a few extra pumpkins to decorate for Halloween with (on your porch or inside your home)!

Nope. They were invited. If they don't have the common courtesy to let you know; well, too bad. If you want to be prepared and have enough pumpkins to go around; that's fine. If they don't show up, then your son will have more to paint.
I know it may sound kind of abrupt; but you shouldn't have to remind another adult to reply; as you would your child.
Good luuck! Awesome party idea!

Sure. Give him a call...everyone is so busy these days, he has probably been trying to make time to make the call himself. If it was a formal occasion that called for an RSVP, black tie dinner for adults for instance, you generally do not call the people who failed to reply. You simply plan approximately 10% over the expected guests.

Yes I would call and say something like, Have you received opur birthday invitation? Oh you have, are you planning on coming? I just need to know how much to buy.
Something like that, isn't pushy, and isn't rude.
Good luck, and happy birthday to your son!!

Just say you're running to the store to get favors for the children and wanted to know if they could make it.

I say yes, if it is your family or close friends. Just casualy remind them of the party and ask if they will be able to make it.
