Because he knows what his toys do..however he doesn't know what those pots and pans in the cabinet do. He's just exploring. As long as what he's playing with isn't dangerous, let him explore it.

My 'soon to be four' year old son was the same. He wanted everything that he wasnt allowed. A favourite of his was a tv remote or a mobile phone. I couldnt tell you how many phones I have got through in the past 3 years. It is very natural and good that they are taking an interest about things around them. My friend had this problem and she layed things out on the floor like ornaments and basically stuff she wasnt allowed to touch and just explained as best she could that they were forbidden. It worked for her, or you could just move them out of sight which is what I found easier.

Let me guess, the remote control, phone, magazines! Am I getting close? If you will notice the thinkgs that he is really interested in are the things you pay the most attention to. Your children try to mock the things you do. If you spend time holding the phone and you think it's a great phone then so will your baby. Some of the other things that they get into, toilet paper, is because they are wanting attention and they play with those things waiting for you to react to it. Try getting on the floor and playing with his toys. He'll want to join you.

LOL! My daughter is the same way. She has tons of toys everywhere, but would rather play with momma cell phone, the remote or curtains. Now she is into climbing on everything it drives me insane. They will out grow this one day. Until then know you arent the only one.

This is what kids do.........you just peak their curiosity even more by telling them no don't touch that.....
you have to basically distract them from what they're not supposed to touch.......and steer their attention away from it.
You can't keep telling them no no no all the time......they eventually don't listen to it anymore.....
Now is a good time to just distract them with something else.
And save the "no's" for something bigger later on.
Then they can distinguish what is wrong and right.
Toys are useless....and a waste of money.....
they like hands-on toys......and more educational things are better than toys.

They are curious at that age. He's probably played with his toys long enough to have worn out the initial curiosity, and is now trying to move on to those things that you keep taking away from him.

my son is nearly 2 and did the same thing. One day i laid out some pans and wooden spoons on the floor for him to play with while i was doing the dinner, it seemed to keep him occupied. Now he has his own cleaning trolley so he can Imitate me while i clean which keeps him out of mischief, then when im finished cleaning he is rewarded by us playing with his toys together. Don't forget to praise and reward your child when he does something right otherwise he wont know how its best to get your attention!

Its just in their nature to want what they cant have, he needs to be distacted from the things he cant have with his own toys play with him at his level on the floor he may just be bored and does not get any excitment from his toys any more, my kids at this age + caused mayhem in my home from bread in the vcr mixing milk and butter in the kettle and flooding my bathroom out by stuffing loo roll in the sink ah how lovely they are lol!!! bless them

That,s just kids for you. You can spend a bomb on toys for em to play with then they'd rather play with the packaging. Same with second hand toys give them a 50p toy and a 50 pound toy and i bet they play with the 50p one. It,s odd really .

Its natural for a child to want to play with things that are forbiddon from them. Its comes down to basic human nature. Just do your best to buy toys that are actully fun rather than boring and keep him away from anything dangerous

my 1 year old also likes to play with the remote control, cellphone, keyboards... they're different to them... their attention span is really short and they want new things all the time. better keep some of his toys, then put it out again when he's tired of the usual toys.. that way there's something new for him to see...and play...
