Well...I think you have already decided on the time to visit if you want to go glacier walks and snowboarding. Personally, I love Canada in the fall. All those maple leaves in different shades of red and brown are simply breathtaking. It is amazing to see that many different colors on the same tree. You will love it even before your plane landed since you can see beautiful colors just looking down.

First - go to Whistler, British Columbia in February. Spend a few days and then go to Lake Louise and Banff for a few days - then go back to Whistler and so on. Everything between Calgary and Ontario is a wasteland and Toronto is a dump. Ottawa is a waste of time. Go to Niagara on the Lake and then on to Quebec
City where the French were defeated by the British. In the warmer weather, it is good to visit Nova Scotia including Cape Breton - the best Lobsters in the World.

If you want to do all that, then go to BC in Feb/March/April.
Not really sure how you will be "moving" but I assume driving. Going straight through will take you over under 2 weeks. If you want to stop in places and enjoy yourself - it would be good to plan on a month. Canada is a lot bigger than you think. Start from one end of the Tanscanada highway and drive the other end. You will pass through big and small towns. Have fun between Ontario and Alberta. zzzzzz lol sorry I couldnt help it.

Whale watching in the East is done in the upper St Lawrence. Tadoussac is the place to go. Or you can catch a whale watching boat from the south shore of the upper St Lawrence by going to Riviere-du-loup. These places are north east of Quebce City.
Go to Montreal for the best night life. Avoid Toronto unless you like boring places.
Glacier walks are done on West coast. Lake Louise is a good place but it is getting cold now. Lake Louise is about 1.5 hours north west of Calgary. You can stay in Banff and take a tour up to Lake Louise. Lake Moraine is also a good place to go on tour to as the turquoise colour of the lake is amazing.

I would say for the activities you want to do I go between Nov. and Jan. All of Canada is great. Quebec could be avoided if possible but Toronto has great night life.

Well, you need to consider what type of weather you like, if you perfer warm(above zero) year round, go to Vancouver. If you like colder goto any city east of British Columbia. Like Calgary, Saskatchewan, Montreal, Toronto has great summers and brutal winters.

September - October. The weather is not too hot and you will be in time to see the splendors of autumn across the prairies and the eastern provinces.
Bon voyage!
