I am going in January and would like an old fashioned, elegant and good quality hotel ,approx 200euro per night for a double room. Any good recommendations would be appreciated.

The Hotel Lutetia is a very well known, old fashioned, elegant hotel. I have stayed for as low as 180 euros. It's about 2 blocks from the Bon Marche. It's part of the Concorde hotels groups. I have also stayed at the Ambassador, which is also part of the group (same price) - its just a few blocks from Galleries Lafayette. Both hotel restaurants are excellent.

Add my vote for the Hotel Lutetia. Wonderfully located. We could see the Eiffel Tower from our window. The bar in the hotel usually has a trio playing and is a wonderful place to relax.
