I would like to get the best fare possible for flying from NY to FL.

From NY you can get very good fares all year.
JetBlue,Spirit (great fares),continental,DL,AA and US.
Low season is during summer.( too hot)
High season is from October to February.( Canadians and northern birds are here).

The best time to fly is off season. However there are ways to get great deals to Florida all the time.

Probably between New Year's and Spring Break, I would imagine. You can create a fare watcher on Travelocity or check the fare of Yahoo FareChase periodically.

i would suggest you call a travel agency and they would be able to tell the cheapest time to travel to Florida.
