Ok relax....take a deep breath. If u survived biting your tongue...you'll be able to get a tongue ring. When I got mine pierced I thought it was gonna hurt like a *****. The listerine kinda nimbs your mouth. try taking some motrin about an hour before you get it pierced. suck on ice, and drink smoothies, the worse part of getting your tongue pierced? the swelling and learning to chew and swallow with a tongue ring. The piercers use a quick motion when they stick the needle in your tongue. I dont think you want them slowly sticking a needle in your tongue....might hurt more. in about 1-2 weeks you'll be back to normal.

Pain is relative. Each person reacts differently to it, so NO ONE can tell you how bad it will hurt. They can just tell you what you MIGHT encounter. My best guess is it will hurt at least a little.

You will have to fill out paper work (liability stuff). Before you get pierced, make sure they explain aftercare and any questions you have should be answered now. Never pay before hand, only after you get the piercing. If they do not answer your questions or issues, leave! Make sure all jewelry, needles and supplies are individually packaged and opened in front of you while you watch. If you piercer touches something, ask them to change their gloves if they do not. If at any time you feel uncomfortable to the point where you cannot go through with it, speak up. It won't be that bad.

The needle will go in quickly and jewelry to be inserted immediately, there may be some bleeding and immediate swelling, make sure the barbell they used it long enough to account for swelling and once you are more healed, go back and ask them to help you change it to a shorter barbell

Please note that you may end up with gum recession, weak teeth enamel, lisp, chipped and cracked teeth with a tongue ring. As a piercer, I hate doing them. Oh...and they are not tongue rings. Ring implies circular and what goes in there is a straigh barbell :-D

Hi- I've done many tongue piercings.

Here is the process.

You rinse your mouth out with an anti-bacterial mouthwash.
The peircer holds your tonge with a clamp- mine are plastic/disposable and a little softer than the metal ones- but the clamp just feels weid, it doesn't hurt.
The needle goes through- it's super fast, and yes, it does hurt, but it's done quick. The bar goes through and is tightened into place so the balls won't come off.
You'll have a bar a little too long for the first few weeks, cause most peoples tongues swell.
Plan of eating soft things, Ice Cream is one of the top favs, and plan on rinsing your mouth out with hot water. hot salt water several times a day.
Most tongues heal very well, and pretty fast. The ache some over the first few days.

Now, about that gum/tooth damage- ti's easy to avoid. There are wonderful plastic tongue bars in a ton of colors and patterns- if you want to see, google unimax tattoo & piercing supply and look at their bar jewelry.

Tongue bars come in soft plastic as well, NFL players use them when they are on the field... :)

Most places ask you to sign a consent form- that means that you understand the risks of piercing, and understand that you are responsible enough to decide for yourself, and responsible enough to take proper care of it.

Advice? If you smoke, plan on stopping while the peirce heals!
Don't be scared, tons of people have gone before you, and although there are people who have damaged their teeth and gums, tons have learned to use non-metal bars and are happy with their cool tongue peirces.

The pain is startling, but not deadly bad, and it's done very quick.

I wud say GO FOR IT!!!! Its really cool, I did it three years ago with my ex and I have it still, I totally like it and girls totally dig it ;p

Well, you wont feel any pain while doing the piercing, as they do it really fast and they give you a liquid to make your tongue feel numb. But depending upon person, it can swell either very slightly or little more than it is comfortable. So, take care in mind that do it from a professional, who knows what he is doing so he will not destroy the viens under yr tongue.

You will just feel a little difficulities in talking and eating little spicy food for 3/4 days after doing the piercing and you wont be allowed to drink very hot beverages. Not bad that you will be allowed to have as much icecreams you want!!!

So, good luck!!!

Some people say it hurts some don't, personally mine didn't hurt. It was quick and painless. Of course it hurt after wards when my tongue started healing but nothing that I couldn't handle.
I'm a body piercer and when clients come into my shop I make them sign a liability waiver. It doesn't say what they got pierced, just simply states that they are getting the modifications at their own risks and I'm not responsible for anything that goes wrong. Everyone is different so you never know what might happen.

TONGUE ring heals in 2 months, feels healed in like each and every week and a a million/2, and it quite is virtually impossible to get an infection. abdomen ring takes as much as a 365 days to heal and would get contaminated quite because of the fact of clothing. i could say abdomen because of the fact it will probably be your first make it something hidden. I even have the two. have been given the tummy first, virtually have been given contaminated because of the fact I positioned on my pants to my bellybutton and it rubbed against it until eventually i finished. abdomen hurts slightly extra yet the two tremendously lots do no longer harm in any respect.

they do it pretty fast, i got mine done when i was 18 (im 24 now),i really cant remember if i had to sign anything
they will freeze your tongue and put it in a clamp thing and pierce it. it doesnt hurt when its being done but its a killer afterwards. its very hard to eat aswell...just stick to soups for first couple of days.also its hard to talk cas of tongue being frozen
i tried to eat some chips the days after and it was so hard. it was wierd aswell cas i kept thinking i was going to swallow my tongue stud lol. but now it feels wierd without it.

it can affect your speech getting your tongue pieced and also chip the enamal off your teeth but ive never had any problems. just dont get into the habbit of clicking the stud against your teeth. my dentist always says whats that awful thing in your mouth but hasnt told me of any damage

I had it done...you go through all the paperwork 1st...then they sit you in the room, while he/she is getting the needle/clamp ready...sterilizing everything....they will draw a dot on your tongue w/a marker...grab it with the clamp and tell you to take a deep breath...they stick the needle through and put the jewelry in...and its over...some swelling/bleeding and thats it. It doesnt hurt at all...(at least for me) I have my lip, tongue and nipples pierced...the tongue was definitly the least painful.

nah, tongue rings dont really hurt because the guy/girl that puts the ring on your tongue should give you anesthezic....then it's really fast i mean it doesn't hurt att all cause u don't feel nothin...you get numb...and then he should give you something to clean ur mouth with, something like alcohol or smth...so...if you really want it you should go ahead and get your tongue pierced .:P
