Yeah....It's ashame the developing countries are much more disciplined spiritually than the U.S. Probably in good part due to America's wealth; we got our money, we got our transportation vehicles and we got everything necessary to make life comfortable. And that prevailing thinking in U.S. society is why we as a country dont come anywhere close to the spiritual power of other countries.
A lot of people have fooled themselves into thinking they dont need God(Jesus Christ) in their lives;thus we reep the harvest of that thinking in the form of: lower morality(homosexuality and other stuff), little or no spiritual power as a whole country, parents not raising their children to honor God,children bak-talking their parents ect.

I am not sure it is fair to describe all "western culture" as not passionate about God.
There are certainly many examples all over the world of supposed religious individuals and groups behaving in an unbecoming manner.
I can honestly only speak for the community I am part of. We have no prayer services or liturgical meetings per se. Our communication with the Creator is an all day, every day relationship.
Our "church" is a home. literally a house. This has a good reasoning to it. Our Community sees all of the Creators children as a large family. We are all brothers and sisters as spiritual creatures. Members of the Community are able to enter and seek assistance or provide assistance at their ability. They come in to learn, talk, share, develop community projects.
So, While I can see many examples of those who don't, in others eyes, take God seriously, or seem passionate enough about their relationship with the Creator, there are many many others who never see the limelight because they are much too busy living that relationship.
Be Well

Have you tried going to some Pentecostal and Apostolic churches?
Every church is different, but over all these two denominations are close to what the Bible says. If you can, it might be best to find a church with about 50-100 people in it (that way you will not feel like just a number).
God be with you.
FYI - I fast several times a month.

Eastern traditions tend to keep it simple and focus on the practical. One can essentialy practice Buddhism, for example, just by following 8 suggestions (the "Eight Fold Path).
Western religion worries about stupid stuff like how many angels can fit on the end of a pin. They have a huge book and volumes of dogma, yet insist on how important it is to learn every word and develop the "right" spin on what it means.
90% of what you hear people say in defense of their church/religion is WHAT IS WRONG WITH other churches/religions.

We are in the Catholic Church, there is one near you.
I don't dislike Protestants, I used to be one, but many are just into the selective religion that makes you "feel good" and give your money.
I researched the Catholic Church for 20 years and finally joined last year, it is the Church that Jesus himself founded. You can find it at www.Catholic.com
Catholics are not as "vocal" as Muslims are though, that is part of our faith as well.
As for Muslims, I admire their daily Prayer life. I have noting against Muslims. But I believe that Muhammad is a false prophet.
Peace! Good Observation, and God Bless you!

we are here, we are just quiet about our belief, because to believe has been made too commercial. the televangelgists you see on tv have nothing to do with true christianity. they are about money, and nothing else. we avoid them, and worship in our everyday lives.

westerns us are not passionate about God, they are passionate about Jesus.
How do you know what Moses wrote is what God said exactly, Especially, since moses mash up the original tablets.
