They are going to think whatever they want no matter what you tell them, but, it is nice that you want to spare their feelings. You might try and tell this person that you are busy with things going on in your life and you don't feel you have the time to invest that they deserve in a relationship.

No easy way to break up with any1!Some1 will always get hurt but thats life and its how you grow as a person!learning to deal with it is hard especially if you've been together for a long time! Most times the best way is to be honest and tell the truth in the end its easyer that way than making up stuff to make them feel better!Because at the end of the day you are still spliting up with them!

Tell him that you are not ready to have a serious relationship, you have to work on yourself for awhile. Tell him that there is nothing wrong with him you just need some space to reflect and think about what you want for yourself. This always works. Trust me !!! Whatever you do dont say you just want to be friends, this hurts a mans ego...

Simple you just say to them that it isn't them that is you, and that you just do not feel there is a connection or spark there, cos if you say oh by the way it is over then that will cuase alot of bad feelings, so just want to be honest as that is the best way to be in life!

Tell them you are breaking up because you don't want to go out with anyone. Tell them you need some time alone to work out what you want to do with the rest of your life.

Tell them that there is too much going on in your life that you need to focus on and a relationship is more than you can handle at the moment.

It depends on how long the relationship was. I would say that you need to take some time for yourself, figure some things out about where your life is going, responsibilities, etc...

Hi if its not them then you have no reason not to tell them the truth dont you. Just tell the truth and get on with the rest of your life. Then you dont feel guilty.

Sit them down and be honest with them, tell them exactly why it's you and not them.

Trust Me...Honesty is the Best Policy (I know thats the bigest Cliché ever, but i've learnt my lesson from it!)
