Write a speech on a current events topic. It should be easy to find information and differing view points on controversial topics in the news. Topics like stem cell research or emminant domain are big in the news right now.

Find something you know you're good with and go with that, or you can talk about your hobby. When I had to do a speech for my English class, I did about World War 2 air-forces, as I knew a lot about them, I still do, I did the same thing for a speech in front of my college room as a nostalgic look back at the way our air forces went from blocks of barely airborne wood to the titainium, areodynamic machines we have today.
Also, if I may give you some tips, Always start by saying "Hello, may name is..." this will give you a few extra marks. Even if you think you're going slow, slow down further, don't make mistakes by stuttering or forgetting what you're going to say, have visual aids with you, that way, if you forget anything, you can look at the picture and remember. take a model or other form of visual aid to help you, to impress the class (and most importantly your teacher), keep eye contact witht he room, but spread it with the class evenly, don't just focus your attention one one object or person, take "Cue Cards" with you so you knw what's coming next. Finally, don't ever read anything off a sheet of paper, it won't do you any favours.
I had to do this when I was 15 and 18, I'm 21 now and I make speeches for board meetings now, due to my charisma skills being in top form! I passed my English orals with flying colours for this!

Yes and no. I see nothing wrong with giving a speech about gay marriage to them, they are old enough to understand. Just realize that stuff gets back to the parents and your cousin may get a bit of drama from uh..less than pleasant people because of the speech. Some of the kids may not be accepting either, but if you ask me it could be a good idea if done right.

Something which is not only interesting but also informative to the audience and ofcourse comfortable for you to speak.....depends on which standard you study in. Considering you in 12th standard I would suggest a few topics like: "Increasing hazards of e-waste", "genetic basis of behavour and psychology", "the everlasting battle of sexes", "print vs electronic media", "work smart rather than work hard", "I hate schedules", "patriotism, where have you gone", "the lost paradise", "far in the leap of moon" etc etc.......!

Try doing it on a current event, something that's on everyone's mind at the moment. How about whether or not teachers should be armed or what else we can do for safety & protection at schools?
